Hi all, I’m new to ConTeXt, having used LaTeX for the past decade (although nothing particularly technical). I’m quickly learning that ConTeXt MkIV is a rapidly moving target, and the documentation has fallen a way behind… So, while I’m gradually learning, I’m going to make an effort to update the Wiki. My first real contribution is the page about the new MkIV sectioning commands (http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/startsection and http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Titles#New_MkIV_Sectioning) Since I’m new to this and Wiki-editing, I’d appreciate it if someone more knowledgeable could give the pages a quick look over to make sure I’m not misleading people with false information, and maybe add any parameters that I’ve missed (or don’t know the meaning of like ‘label’ and ‘marking’). Cheers, and thanks for ConTeXt – so far I like it a lot better than LaTeX or any other system I’ve tried! Gareth

slanted style in quotations: setupquotation?

While there is a \setupquote in a recent MkIV beta, when I try to use \setupquotation to set the quotation text style to slanted, this has no effect. Is there a neat way to do this, without redefining \quotation?

[font-chk.lua] missing glyph tracker

Hi Hans, in font-chk.lua, the function checkers.missing fails to assign the var “lastfont”, leading to a meaningless test for equivalence with “font”. See patch below. Also, may I ask you to include the unicode character in the tracker message? This would make the output more legible, imo. background color for makeups

Dear list, the only way I found to center content horizontally and vertically on a page is a makeup, such as: \startstandardmakeup[align=middle] content to be centered \stopstandardmakeup I need to be able to change the background on some given pages. Which is the way to do this? I have tried with (what I understand from) setups: \startsetups[setups:redcolor] \setupbackgrounds[page][background=color,backgroundcolor=red] \stopsetups \startstandardmakeup[setups=setups:redcolor] content \stopstandardmakeup But it didn't work. luajittex not able to find some fonts

Dear list, I wonder whether this would be interesting to the luajittex developers, but for some strange reason when I invoke context with --engine=luajittex, only some system fonts are found. My guess is that with luajittext the most recently installed system fonts aren't the ones not found. Just in case it might help, Pablo -- http://www.ousia.tk

item bullet processing / font problem

Setting the main font to ipaexm for Japanese characters, causes the sample document below to fail being typest properly. The $\diamond$ symbol I specified as an item bullet does not get typeset and where is should be is blank. Though not shown in this example, the default set is also affected. When it should be a circular bullet a largish hypen - is displayed. Also parsing of the document text itself is affected with Context halting in the middle of the first item's text. I think all problems are due to the change in fort. Is there anyway I can specify a backup font or a fort to use for only the symbols, which I believe is in a math font? Any assistance it getting this working will be much appreciated. Referencing problem (correction)

Sorry for the mistake: I wrote one \ too many so that I unwittingly created an absurd link. The message was supposed to be this: Hi all, To include in a text several graphics that for some reason must have the same figure number (with suffixes .a, .b etc.), I use \startplacefigure[location=here,reference=,title={},group=,groupsuffix=] {\externalfigure[]} \stopplacefigure an experimental solution that Hans gave me in april (Ref. ntg-context Digest, Vol 106, Issue 4, Date:14 April 2013) and which works perfectly. My problem is: how can I refer in my text to this set of figures (instead of to the separate figures). I have tried to use "group" as the label for referencing, as it is the only argument that all figures have in common, but my trials failed and I have no idea how to accomplish this. Orphans and Windows

G'day everyone, I use introductory sentences to numbered lists all the time, like this (where \startnlist...\stopnlist is a custom itemised list): To remove a foo from a pool of foos: \startnlist \item Do this... \item Do that... \item ...and so on... \stopnlist On occasions, I am getting that introductory sentence as an orphaned line at the end of a page and my numbered list as the first thing on the next page. How can I avoid that? There is not much about orphans and widows on the Wiki or in the reference manual. [Sorry about the previous null message.] Background: Typically I use MetaPost to create small figures, which I then can scale as needed in larger documents. These figures contain no text so I can simply use the .eps output of mpost as an inclusion. Recently, I have embarked on a large illustration replete with lots of text labels. It is a "distilled" architectural drawing intended for diagnostic and maintenance purposes. In it plumbing details are overlaid over a layout. For simplicity, I standardized on unit size of 1cm so that co-ordinates can easily map from physical dimensions with the unusual hybrid scale of 1cm=1ft ;).. Status: With this set unit size, my drawing has grown very large. My intent is to get it printed on one of the (U.S.) based architectural paper sizes, or if it can be made legible on U.S. Tabloid size paper (17" x 11").. My first successful approach (and where I stand right now) is to simply use \startMPpage and \stopMPpage to scale to the page. Thera are a couple of issues, though, with this approach. First, I want to add additional information to the page, other than what would be handled by MetaPost, e.g., some tables, etc. Even without this additional information, having the drawing scale to page size does not give adequate margin buffering and if there are some labels right at the edge, I have seen some clipping of the text. Objective: I would like to create a scalable drawing with all of its text labels so that I can scale appropriately to different page sizes, and also incorporate the illustration with other document elements. >From what I have read at: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/MetaPost_in_ConTeXt I think what I need is something akin to \startuseMPgraphic with a scaling option if I want to include the code inline. Otherwise, the drawing is clipped on the page. Or perhaps I simply try to convert the existing PDF output to PS, and then include it?
