rfc4180splitter not handling UTF-8 with BOM files

Hi! I run into a problem reading in certain CSV files. I nailed it down to the following example: \starttext \startluacode local mycsvsplitter = utilities.parsers.rfc4180splitter{ separator = ",", quote = '"'} -- fails with -- token call, execute: [ctxlua]:11: attempt to index a nil value (local 'tablerows') -- local mycsv = io.loaddata("A.csv") -- works local mycsv = io.loaddata("B.csv") local tablerows = mycsvsplitter(mycsv) context(tablerows[1][1]) context(" ") context(tablerows[1][2]) \stopluacode \stoptext The compilation fails with token call, execute: [ctxlua]:11: attempt to index a nil value (local 'tablerows') The two files are attached. The only difference is that: A.csv: Unicode text, UTF-8 (with BOM) text B.csv: ASCII text Somehow the rfc4180splitter chokes on UTF-8 with BOM files. io.loaddata succeeds as far as I can tell. save runtime information

Hi, a couple of years ago, I asked whether it was possible to typeset the information about runtime that I get at the end of the context run. The runtime (in seconds) I see at the end of the run on the terminal: 5.635 vs. the value I get with the code: 0.660260200500488 I'm not sure whether something has changed with lmtx or if this was the case before (the log file is being written to during the run, so this may explain the difference?). So my question from then still stands: is it possible to extract the real runtime somehow? I would like to write it to a different file at the end of the run. What would be the best way to do this? Position of overflowing TABLE after split

Hi there, when having an overflowing TABLE in width (e.g. with the TABLE option 'textwidth=\dimexpr\textwidth+\rightmarginwidth\relax') the position (horizontal) changes after a split. Before the first split the table overflows into the right margin. After that the position changes and it's overflowing into the left margin. Here is a minimal example: \startplacetable[location={split}] \bTABLE[option=stretch,split=yes,textwidth=\dimexpr\textwidth+\rightmarginwidth+\rightmargindistance\relax] \dorecurse{100}{ \bTR \bTD Cell 1 \eTD \bTD Cell 2 \eTD \bTD Cell 3 \eTD \eTR } \eTABLE \stopplacetable Is this behavior expected? Background colour in PDF with export activated

Hi, I'm having issues generating PDF files with a coloured background when export is set to ‘yes’. Minimal example: \setupbackend[export=yes] \setupbackgrounds [page] [background=color,backgroundcolor=black] \starttext \startcolor[white] test \stoptext This example seems to work as expected when I comment out the first line (a black page with the word ‘test’ in white). However, with the first line the pdf looks entirely white. Is this a known issue, or am I doing something wrong here? Use-case: I am trying to generate a pdf and an html files with equivalent content, the latter being primarily used for accessibility purposes. One workaround is to split the tex file in two, e;g;: % main.tex \setupbackgrounds [page] [background=color,backgroundcolor=black] \starttext \startcolor[white] test \stoptext %main-exp.tex \setupbackend[export=yes] \input{main.tex} This way, I can generate the correct pdf by compiling main.tex and the html by compiling main-exp.tex (adding a custom .css file to get a black background). But I'm wondering if there is a way of generating the correct pdf without moving the line ‘\setupbackend[export=yes]’ into a different file. Best regards, Florent

\inch not doing the expected thing (what I expect, anyway).

Hi, I would expect (*cough*) \starttext 2\inch \stoptext to output something like 2" with some appropriate typographic symbols following the 2. Instead, I get a 2 with a large prime symbol down lower than a prime symbol should be, and then a second prime symbol at about the correct size and at about the right distance up from the baseline. Are my expectations about what \inch should do incorrect? I do notice that $2\inch$ does what I expect, but if I have to enter math mode, I may as well type $2''$ to get what I want. In summary, is \inch working as intended or it is broken? Thanks. Jim

Problem with tabulate

Hi Guys, I am trying out the following environment: \starttabulate[p(5mm)p(5mm)] \HL \NS[1][c] Wurfstärke R / H \NC\NR \NC 2 \NC 3 \NC\NR \HL \stoptabulate These are the columns of a larger table that cause problems. P() and \NS do not work together. But also \starttabulate[cc] \HL \NS[1][c] WurfstärkeR / H \NC\NR \NC 2 \NC 3 \NC\NR \HL \stoptabulate does not provide the desired result. Ideally, “R / H” should be under “Wurfstärke”, i.e. there should be a line break. (\\ doesn't work) Both in a combined cell. Then the numbers below should be centered in their separate cells. Something like this: Wurfstärke R / H 3 2 How can this be achieved? I am grateful for any advice. Greetings Thomas

Dear all, I have a cell that calculates a value that may not be a negative value. If it is a negatiive value the cell should show zero. \startcell[style=normal] @ "0.2f EUR" $pauschale.eintag$ - ((D[row] * (0.2 * $pauschale.vororttag$)) + (E[row] * (0.4 * $pauschale.vororttag$)) + (F[row] * (0.4 * $pauschale.vororttag$))) \stopcell The $-variables will get resolved by Pandoc before ConTeXt comes into play. As far as I understood the handdbook spreadsheets-mkiv.pdf it is possible to define lua functions inside a cell. Who would you implement a max function that sets the value to 0 if it is negative? full-width Chinese comma (U+FF0C) and ordinary comma (U+002C) in Chinese texts

Hello, I'm typesetting a bibliography with some Chinese books that have both the English translation and the original title in Chinese ideograms. The Chinese titles contain both full-width commas (U+FF0C) and ordinary commas (U+002C), followed by spaces. Full-width comma has a wide glyph that incorporates some space on the right side; I read on Wikipedia it's a mistake putting a space after it. THE PROBLEM ConTeXt does not break a line after a full-width comma (even inside a "{\cn ... }" group), while it does with an ordinary comma, followed by a space. When there are only full-width commas, sometimes I'll get overfull boxes, because ConTeXt finds no feasible breakpoints. I'm tempted to replace all the full-width commas with ordinary commas followed by a space. Is it possible, or is it a mistake? Or, how do I tell ConTeXt that breaks can occur after full-width commas? Hi, since recently had that nice thread about electrons and Hans announced to rewrite the chemical stuff, I wanted to mention this LaTeX package for drawing chemical structure diagrams in MetaPost: https://ctan.org/pkg/mcf2graph Maybe there’s some usable code?
