Looking forward to seeing you, Hraban (Same blurb as every time:) [Howto] * No special software installation required; most modern browsers should work (WebRTC required). * Open the above URL, accept the privacy statement, * enter your name, * click "join" (or "start" if you’re the first), * click "with microphone", allow your browser to access it, check the audio. * Your microphone is muted if you join. Activate microphone and/or camera with the buttons at the bottom. * Minimize the default presentation with the "screen" button, bottom right. * If you’d like to share your screen or upload a file, you can make yourself the presenter: Click on your user name, change the setting, then you’ll see the "screen sharing" button beside the camera button; also there’s now "manage presentations" behind the "plus" button. Beware there is only one presenter at a time, so don’t kill someone else’s presentation. [Technical hints] * Sound is usually better if you use a headset (less noise for everyone). * Connection problems are mostly due to low bandwidth or high latency on your side, e.g. with mobile connections. * If audio/video doesn’t work for you, you can still use the text chat. * Screen sharing needs a lot of bandwidth. * BigBlueButton documentation applies: https://bigbluebutton.org/teachers/tutorials/ [Netiquette] * Please use a name that we recognize from here. I am typesetting some transliterated medieval German and need to place one letter, e.g., an “e” in scriptsize over another letter, e.g., a “u” in text size. I have managed to get this in italics using \mathstackers and \definemathmatrix, but I need both letters in roman face and at text size. Is there a way to do this or would another approach be better? Alan

margin bigger than backspace pushes it outside the edge

Hi all, I've been struggling with basic page layout. The left margin extends outside the left edge of the page. Problem with \startlinenumbering left and right arguments

\placefigure[location=here...] problem

Hi all, I am generating a quiz, with eight questions, each with text and a figure following it. The output was fine till the fifth question, but then the margin separating the text of each question disappeared and the figure got put on the next page one after the other. Can anyone suggest what I could be doing wrong? Do I need to increase the buffer? how? This is what I have used to place each figure \startplacefigure[location=here,reference=fig:blah][]{} \externalfigure[blah.jpeg][scale=300] \stopplacefigure

ConTeXt support for Nova text editor (MacOS)

Hello, list! I'm working on a ConTeXt language extension for the Nova editor by Panic software (https://nova.app/) The extension is here: https://github.com/pmazaitis/nova-context/releases/tag/0.6.0 ...currently in beta, but fairly functional. This version of the extension supports: * Syntax Highlighting * Folding for (most) environments * Navigating by Symbols (headings: chapter, section, etc.) * Spell-checking of body text and section titles * Managing builds with Nova's tasks system (As an aside, this extension uses an updated version of the ConTeXt tree-sitter parser [https://github.com/pmazaitis/tree-sitter-context] that can now recognize (most) environments and use them to parse out the document hierarchy.) Limitations at the moment: not all environments are supported (only those with \start and \stop commands right now), and the extension only supports English. Happy for any bug reports, etc., -Paul

Hi, In mtx-synctex.lua, inside local function findlocation(filename,page,xpos,ypos,tolerance) there is the following code: for s=1,tolerance,max(tolerance//10,1) do locate( s, 0) if fi ~= 0 then tl = s ; goto done end locate(-s, 0) if fi ~= 0 then tl = s ; goto done end locate( s, s) if fi ~= 0 then tl = s ; goto done end locate( s,-s) if fi ~= 0 then tl = s ; goto done end locate(-s, s) if fi ~= 0 then tl = s ; goto done end locate(-s,-s) if fi ~= 0 then tl = s ; goto done end end Is the omission of the locate(0, s) ... and locate(0, -s) ... cases intentional, or is that an oversight? If intentional, can someone explain the rationale to me? Thanks. Jim
