serial letters

How would you approach serial letters, e.g. to all members of a club? (Actually I need to send out donation receipts.) I’d like to use the letter module, since my usual letter design is using it. I can export the addresses to CSV, JSON, Lua tables or whatever or transfer them to a SQLite db. Would it make more sense to read them in Lua and combine this data with a buffer, or to write a single tex file for every letter? I know how to do the latter, but I’d like to learn a more ConTeXt-ish way. Would it make sense to use the bibliographies module? Hi, I recently tried to typeset a table with checkmarks and x marks. \checkmark exists but is there a predefined x mark symbol (\xmark does not work)? In general: For LaTeX there exists the very helpful comprehensive LaTeX symbol list [1]. Is there a similar documentation for ConTeXt somewhere? textbackground spacing offset

Hi! I'm having problems getting the textbackground spacing offset to work. Example: \setupframedtext [offset=overlay, width=max, depthcorrection=off] \setuptextbackground [location=paragraph, %% offset=overlay, %% does nothing %% backgroundoffset=overlay, %% does nothing %% depthcorrection=off, %% does nothing %% topoffset=3mm, %% works, but only for positive values background=, frame=on] \starttext \startframedtext \framed{Foo} \stopframedtext \starttextbackground \framed{Foo} \stoptextbackground \stoptext How do it get the same spacing as in the framedtext case? Status of Asymptote

Dear all, I'd like to know what is the status of Asymptote in Context. To my knowledge, metapost/metafun only support 2D (except with the additional libraries from Roegel, which would have to be cleaned up a bit). Otherwise, what shall be used for 3D drawings in Context? TikZ? Something else? Thanks in advance. Alex

multipage metapost output from ConTeXt

How can I achieve multipage metapost output from ConTeXt? The result should be a multipage pdf. It contains just a metapost graphic per page. The graphic has always the same bounding box and evolves from page to page: Some elements to be drawn are added, and some others would ideally also be removed, while keeping elements which has already been drawn on previous pages. I can manage when it is not possible to remove elements (in that case I'll just cover them with a covering element). I saw that it is possible to achieve my goal with standalone metapost, as described here: https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/471662/mptopdf-is-multipage-output-… But I'll need to achieve this with Metapost inside ConTeXt because I use labels in Metapost which print text in Japanese, Korean , Arabic and Roman script: Thanks to ConTeXt, I can define appropriate fonts for each script. All this works already in my working example. The only unsolved problem is to ship out multiple pages. For the minimal working example, I didn't remove the font defining part, because having 4 different fonts is a condition of my use case. The graphic on the other hand is some simple dummy nonsense graphic not from my project. The graphic is in the provided example drawn as a summing up of layered drawing steps (6 steps, to be precise), so no removing is implemented here (because I don't know how that would be done). If each of the figures 1 to 6 of my mwe can be put alone on a page, I'd be already very happy. Now, they're put on top of each other all on the same single page, also on top of figure 0. ConTeXt support for Nova text editor (MacOS)

Hello, list! I'm working on a ConTeXt language extension for the Nova editor by Panic software (https://nova.app/) The extension is here: https://github.com/pmazaitis/nova-context/releases/tag/0.6.0 ...currently in beta, but fairly functional. This version of the extension supports: * Syntax Highlighting * Folding for (most) environments * Navigating by Symbols (headings: chapter, section, etc.) * Spell-checking of body text and section titles * Managing builds with Nova's tasks system (As an aside, this extension uses an updated version of the ConTeXt tree-sitter parser [https://github.com/pmazaitis/tree-sitter-context] that can now recognize (most) environments and use them to parse out the document hierarchy.) Limitations at the moment: not all environments are supported (only those with \start and \stop commands right now), and the extension only supports English. Happy for any bug reports, etc., -Paul
