Bruce, This is off-list because I see you already had an answer, but I'm wondering if I have misunderstood your problem. I thought there was a simple way to do this (or at least it is how I do it): |\setuphead [chapter] [page={yes,header,footer,right}] | Which * Finishes the last page of the previous chapter * Disables the header and footer for the next (empty) page * Adds an empty page when necessary to start the new chapter on a right page I see, too, that you have added in Wolfgang's elegant solution to an earlier issue I had with placing images on that blank page before a chapter title. That was kind of you. I've never ventured into adding to/correcting aspects of the wiki. I've often wanted to... even just to quietly fix up some of the English. It is a no-no to mention that sort of thing in the public forum, and the best way around it, I think, is to simply make adjustments here and there when it would help. Julian

french quotation marks

Hi, according to my knowledge (and also Wikipedia), French uses « … » as double (\quotation) and ‹ … › as single (\quote) quotation marks. The current setting in ConTeXt however is « … » for both, just with less spacing for \quote. If no francophone user objects I’d suggest to fix this. Count (and limit) glyphs per line?

Dear list, I've been confronted with the following 'intriguing' formatting requirement for a document: " • Type density: Must be no more than 15 characters per linear inch (including characters and spaces). • Line spacing: Must be no more than six lines per vertical inch. " While the line spacing resolves in ConTeXt to \setupinterlinespace[line=\dimexpr(1in / 6)] I was wondering if one can limit "type density" as the number of glyphs per inch in TeX too? I thought, it is more convenient to rephrase this request (for a 7 in textwidth) to limit the number of glyphs per line to 112. (Font must be sans or serif, of course ...) I've tried \setuplayout[width=112\averagecharwidth] which, however, results in ~120–130 characters and spaces per line. Pragmatically, I'm narrowing the text width to empirically match the requirement, but I'm nevertheless curious if there is a Lua/TeX solution to this "problem"? Thank you! Benjamin

Any way to configure \setuphead to run a setups on the stop command?

If I use \definehead [Chapter] [chapter] and then \setuphead[Chapter][...] I can specify setups to run before and after \startChapter. Is there any way to specify setups that are run before & after \stopChapter? My real problem is that I have a double-sided book with new chapters starting on a right hand page. If an extra left-hand page gets added then that extra page is blank except for the header which continues from the previous chapter. This makes the page look a bit odd and I'd rather the header was blank. I can fix this by ensuring each chapter emits a final page (to ensure the headers on the last text-bearing page of the chapter are shown) and then clearing the header temporarily using: \stopChapter\page\setupheader[state=empty] This works so I wondered if there was a way of adding it to \stopChapter ? I can edit each individual chapter file easily enough so no need to add it as a feature if it's not already available in some way. — Bruce Horrocks Hampshire, UK

Hi all, I wanted to place a figure in a cld. The example in the cld manual does not reveal how to influence bahavior except for the caption. context.placefigure( “caption”, function() context.externalfigure({i}, { width = "\\textwidth" } ) end ) Can anybody enlighten me? Kind regards Willi
