And, the new option for \setupalign does not show up in the autogenerated syntax overview at https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/setupalign I probably don't fully understand how the wiki works in these regards .. can anyone clarify? Conditional text appearing in a fixed vertical space

Hello List, I am making problem sets for a physics class. Solutions use the style defined in the example below, and only appear if the “solution” mode is enabled. I am struggling to get a vertical space for the solution which is the same whether or not the solution is printed. Different problems require different amounts of space, so this should be an argument or key-value. In the example below, the first solution has the desired behavior. The second solution has the syntax I’d like, but it doesn’t make the space without a solution. Any ideas would be welcome! I am still pretty new to ConTeXt, so I struggle mixing things like the plain tex \vbox and ConTeXt \start…\stop concepts. LTR footnotes from RTL paragraph

Hello, I needed to typeset some poetry and noticed that \startlines[space=on] Some line with tab % doesn't work, no spaces added Some line with spaces %work \stoplines Is there a way to make the "tab" render the space "as is"?

Radius attribute and scaling in lmt_shade[ ]

Hi In the code below you will see that I have created a closed path and performed scaling, and shading on the path with lmt_shade [ ]. I have noticed a few features which may or may not be bugs depending on whether scaled is applied to the path within the square brackets or outside. 1) Applying scaled to the path within the square brackets and incrementing the radius key I can see the shaded areas changing, however the first two shapes show incorrect scaling and have ragged edges. 2) When scaled is applied outside the square brackets all shapes are the same size and no ragged edges, however the shading is not showing correctly with increasing radius. Am I missing something? Critical Editions?

I just started switching after long years of typesetting with La-/Omega-/pdfTeX to Context and was exploring the capabilities of the program for typesetting critical editions. So I was wondering whether there is any updated information on how to produce critical editions? Details: I was able to find the article "Ediciones críticas con ConTeXt" (is this in use?) as well as a plan of and a remark concerning critTeXt: "As I learned from a thread on NTG-context from early 2010 we shouldn't expect a dedicated package, but that ConTeXt will eventually incorporate the needed functionalities." What is the status of that? I also found out that for simple editions context already works. For critical editions in my field we need both footnote references based on linenumbers (for prose), but also references to verse number, which can be entered manually. How to setupbtx to get short citations?

Hi, In the example below I can do \cite[short][hh2010] to get the citation in the short format. But I thought that would also be the standard with \setupbtx[aps][alternative=short] (so that I can write \cite[hh2010] instead). What do I miss? How to let a macro check the previous value of #1 the last time the same macro was called?

Is there a way for a macro to check the previous value of #1, the last time that same macro was called? Here is a minimum working example, pretending that `\previousvalue` is equal to #1 from the last time the same macro was called: \define[1]\mymacro{ \if\previousvalue=#1 same as last time \else it is different from last time \fi } \starttext \mymacro{cat} \mymacro{cat} \mymacro{mouse} \mymacro{mouse} \mymacro{cat} \stoptext This would print: it is different from last time <--it was never called previously same as last time it is different from last time same as last time it is different from last time --Joel

Get Current Section Number

I want to put a book title above the Chapter title for the first chapter of a book. I suppose that this can be accomplished with a 'before=' clause that checks to see if it is the first chapter... but how do I look at the chapter number in order to set up the conditional? Mike
