new page before xtable with repeated headers

Hello everyone, I'm having an xtable spanning several pages and need to have its headers repeated. For this I've set "split=repeat", but unfortunately this causes the table to start with a new new page leaving the rest of the preceding page empty. Having "split=yes" makes the tabe continue on the previous page as a need it to, but then the header isn't repeated any longer. I realize that there has been a very similar question already in https://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context@ntg.nl/msg93775.html, but my problem happens isolated in a very clean situation w/o any header, floats or the like - and I don't see yet how I can get this working in my situation. \startstaticMPfigure not producing .pdf or .mp.md5 files

Hello colleagues, I’m writing a physics textbook with lots of figures, some quite complex. I’ve been using TikZ, but I’m experimenting with MetaPost. Consulting the ConTeXt wiki, I found that \startstaticMPfigure and friends are designed exactly for this sort of use. However, I’m not seeing the documented behavior. In particular, I’m not seeing .pdf and .mp.md5 files being produced. Perhaps I don’t know where to look. I thought they would be in the same directory as the document. The example from the wiki is this: \startstaticMPfigure{center} draw fullcircle scaled 2cm ; dotlabel.bot(textext("(0,0)"),origin) ; \stopstaticMPfigure \startstaticMPfigure{radius} draw fullcircle scaled 2cm ; drawarrow (0,0)--(1cm,0) ; label.bot(textext("$r$"),(5mm,0)) ; \stopstaticMPfigure \starttext Circle centered \usestaticMPfigure[center][width=1cm] at origin with radius \usestaticMPfigure[radius][width=1cm] $r=1\,\text{cm}$. \stoptext I would expect this to produce files center.pdf, radius.pdf, center.mp.md5, radius.md.mp5, and perhaps other logs, etc. I don’t see them anywhere. I’m running on MacOS with a current LMTX from TeXShop with the script: #!/bin/bash export PATH=/Users/Gavin/context-osx-64/tex/texmf-osx-64/bin:$PATH ~/context-osx-64/tex/texmf-osx-64/bin/mtxrun --autogenerate --script context --directives="system.showerror" --autopdf "$1” I’ve also tried MkIV and the TeXLive 2021 versions with the same results. I don’t actually need the separate pdf, but I do want the diagrams to be redrawn only when something has changed. Without a .mp.md5, I’m not sure what to expect. If the behavior has changed, I can update the wiki. I’m also curious about why \staticMPfigure is not mentioned in the MetaFun manual. Thanks Gavin

With \pagenumber I can call up the current pagenumber and typeset it. But \chapternumber is not defined. How can I typeset the current chapternumber or even the current chapternumber.sectionnumber.subsectionnumber, for example? dr. Hans van der Meer

How to write readable source files?

Hi all, how do you format your ConTeXt source files? I recently discovered prettier which reformats source files for different markup and programming languages such as html, markdown, json etc. There are some other tools around but I don't find anything for ConTeXt. Do you know of any prettifying tool? Is there a best practice for ConTeXt source files, at all? Ciao! Jan Ulrich Hasecke

Synctex broken in LMTX ?

Hi Hans, I have been noticing for some time that \setupsynctex does not work properly, at least in TeXShop on MacOS. A « filename.synctex » file is created but on most occasions it does not contain many lines, and one cannot go from the PDF file to the right location in the source file. Has something changed in the way synctex used to work ? Below I am sending you a test file with its PDF and .synctex files, for you to see for yourself. ctxlua percentage format escape

Hi, I was trying to use a quick calculation like the new mathfun in lmtx for an older mkiv document. MWE from the wiki: https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Programming_in_LuaTeX#Examples \starttext $\pi = \ctxlua{context("\%.6f", math.pi)}$ \stoptext But that gives an error (actually for both lmtx and mkiv): token call, syntax: [ctxlua]:1: invalid escape sequence near '"\%' Whereas \starttext $\pi = \startluacode context("%.6f", math.pi) \stopluacode$ \stoptext Works fine as expected. Is there a way to escape the percentage sign in ctxlua as a format value? Adam

Fwd: --luatex option failing

Pablo, thanks for the assistance you gave me... it made me look at the cache inside the lmtx folders and I could see that the entire luatex folder was missing. I did try your --erase and --generate moves, but that did nothing to resolve things, so I installed the latest 2021.05.27 14:15 and the problem is resolved. BibTeX inproceedings entries not rendered correctly in APA style

I don't know if this is restricted to inproceedings entries, but consider the following test.bib: @inproceedings{Foo:1983, author = {Foo, Bar}, booktitle = {Booktitle}, pages = {34--39}, title = {Title of the paper}, year = {1983} } When this is typeset: \usebtxdataset[test.bib] \usebtxdefinitions[apa] \starttext \cite[Foo:1983] \placelistofpublications \stoptext the result is: (Foo, 1983) Foo, B. (1983). Title of the paper. In Title of the paper., Booktitle. Author. I would expect: (Foo, 1983) Foo, B. (1983). Title of the paper. In Booktitle, p. 34–39. or something similar. I can reproduce it with ConTeXt from TeX Live 2021 and the current LMTX. Is it a bug? Nicola

LMTX and my custom typescripts

Yesterday I installed a new LMTX instance *ex nihilo*. Unfortunately, the new instance will not load my typescripts. My several commercial fonts and the typescripts I wrote for them reside in the texmf-project tree, along with a style file that loads them. I load the style file in my source files with the \environment command. The files in texmf-project are properly indexed. I know this, because the style file's name appears in the log, because I can list the fonts with mtxrun --script fonts --list --files --all --pattern=Dolly*, and because he style file evokes \showframe and \showgrid; the result of which I see in the typeset results. Regardless of whether a typescript files, e.g. type-DollyPro.tex, is in the texmf-tree or in the same directory as the ConTeXt source file, evoking \usetypescriptfile[type-DollyPro] fails. The log says: fonts > typescripts > unknown library 'DollyPro' fonts > typescripts > unknown library 'DollyPro' However, including the typescripts in the ConTeXt source file succeeds; which would seem to imply that my typescript definitions are correct. Using an old instance: LMTX LuaTeX 2.03 20191227 + ConTeXt MkIV 2019.12.27 19:26, loading the typescript via the style file works as expected. I regret that my mwe remains academic, since you need the Dolly font to run it. Any encouragement in how to resolve this would be much appreciated. Cheers, Michael
