Reading about macro bundles meant to be generic (format agnostic), some of them work in plain/LaTeX, but crash when loaded on ConTeXt. The following happens with xstring.tex tex error > tex error on line 372 in file xstring.tex: ! Or maybe a } was forgotten somewhere earlier, and things are all screwed up? I'm going to assume that you meant ##. I've tried changing the catcode regime, but with no effect. Don't misunderstand me. I'm aware of ConTeXt capabilities and string manipulation via Lua. My question is more like: "Why doesn't xstring.tex?" Sorry if my question is outside the scope of ConTeXt developers/maintainers. lpath to select last item

\placetable vs. \placefloat and option "none"

Hello, (– resending now without resulting .pdf to avoid attachment size limit –) option "none" has different effect with \placetable and \placefloat. No problem with this, but as I thought both commands raise from the same code (or more precisely: I thought that \placetable is special case (specialization) of \placefloat), I'm a bit surprised that \placefloat[none] keeps caption whilst \placetable[none] supresses it. See the sample: ---- \setupexternalfigures[location=default] \starttext \placetable[force,none]{}{\externalfigure[cow]} % [1] \placefloat[force,none]{}{\externalfigure[cow]} \stoptext ---- (I'm aware that I'm placing \externalfigure into \placetable in [1] - does it matter?) - Also relates here: https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/placefloat . Bad interaction between \setupinteraction and \defineenumeration

The following: \setupinteraction[state=start,focus=standard,color=black,contrastcolor=black] \defineenumeration[proposition][alternative=top,text=Proposición,headalign=middle,numberconversion=R,headstyle=\WORDS,style=\emph,referenceprefix=prop] \starttext \startproposition[1] \dorecurse{10}{\input ward} \stopproposition \in[prop:1] \stoptext works almost perfectly. However, the cross-reference does not work, even if the number of the enumeration is displayed correctly. The example fails both in LuaTeX and LuaMetaTeX. As I remember, the problem appeared as early as 2019, so not a matter of a bad installation. Any ideas? Cordially, Jairo :)

Resetting image width

Hi, for collecting a lot of images into a booklet I set \setupexternalfigures[width=\textwidth,maxheight=\textheight] but would like to have some single images defined by height and proportional width, like \externalfigure[dummy][width=auto,height=.5\textheight] but height and width only take dimensions. Can you give me a hint? Hraban

LMTX and soft links (Linux)

I'm using both LMTX from the ConTeXt standalone installation and a TeX Live installation. Since I'm using binaries from the standalone (and added LMTX to path, etc.), I created soft links in texmf-modules via ln -s /usr/local/texlive/2020/texmf-dist/tex ~/lmtx/tex/texmf-modules/tex and similar (lmtx is my directory for the standalone). LuaTeX finds files without any issues. However LuaMetaTeX gives the following error: runtime error : input file (name of file) is not found, quitting The same result is for modules, .sty files and .tex files. Is this intentional, a bug in LMTX, or is a better solution possible? In case it's useful, I'm working with Ubuntu 20.04. Thank you a lot. Jairo :)

ConTeXt source browser website update

Hi all, I just replaced the software of https://source.contextgarden.net/ by a Lua implementation that uses Hans Hagen’s SciTE lexers for syntax highlighting and a Lua-generated search index. There is no official documentation yet (because I may want to change some stuff still) but here is some relevant information: * The search field uses a Lua string pattern to match a single word (no multi-word search as of yet). See https://www.lua.org/manual/5.3/manual.html#6.4.1 for the syntax of lua string patterns. * The search index only contains 7-bit ASCII ‘words’ that contain at least one of 'a-zA-Z’ (writing an LPEG for unicode matching is a tricky and probably would be quite slow even if I could make it work). Still, this should be ok-ish because most of the ConTeXt source is ASCII, except for the interface files. * The files context-en.xml, mtxrun{.lua}, and all of the files in the tex/context/patterns subtree are skipped in the search index. Also skipped are words shorter than 3 bytes, lua keywords, and words having more than (approx) 1500 hits * On the plus side, because of the SciTE lexer, “contextversion’ and “\contextversion” are separate entries in the search index. And you can search for “\@@kldirection”. * For text file types that have no SciTE lexer there is no syntax highlighting, and binary files are ignored altogether. The rest of the interface should be self-explanatory. Suggestions for improvements are welcome. Index statistics: 4085 files processed, 178 skipped, 3744 with matches 120733 words found 119154 words exported to word.idx 37928 comment words found 36880 words exported to comment.idx 26756 documentation words found 26018 words exported to docs.idx The word.idx is roughly 11 megabytes.
