How to really set the paper margin?

Dear List, The following example results in a pdf that has a wide margin on both sides despite the \setuplayout : \showframe \setuppapersize[A4][A4] \setuplayout[margin=0cm, edge=0cm, margindistance=0cm, edgedistance=0cm] \starttext hello world \stoptext Does anyone know how to really set the paper margin? caching remote images

Hello! I'd like to cache images (order of hundreds) from a remote location (not all the time mapped as drive, download speed and amount of data are also the factors). \usepath[dirfile://./resources/**] is likely for speeding up searching not downloading and I don't know when new images are available (when to delete dirlist.* files), as described in workflows-mkiv.pdf. Looks like the cache parameter in \externalfigure is used only if some conversion is going on. I could create a conversion which does nothing or only envelopes JPG in PDF as <id>.jpg.pdf (loading could be faster) and then: if cached file exists use cached <id>.jpg.pdf else if drive is mapped download, convert and cache <id>.jpg else skip file end end The source file with one <id> will never change or I could re-cache from time to time to have up-to-date images cached. Before reinventing the wheel: isn't such functionality or part of it already available? Thanks, Jano

Adding built-in support for Serbian language

Hello all, I have recently started using ConTeXt. I've found that the distribution includes a proper (cyrillic) hyphenation file for Serbian language, but a complete language support is still not implemented. Therefore, I've added what I think is required, did some testing by putting changed files in my texmf-local, and the result looks fine. There is only one thing that requires a decision from the development team. Serbian language uses two scripts: cyrillic and latin. Context language codes are using 2 letters for identification. So I'm not sure how to include both scripts. What I'm sending now is a cyrillic script implementation, using the code "sr". It is trivial to generate (completely automatic) latin script version of these changes, once it is decided how to label it. Best regards, Ivan

About filling paths, unfill, etc.

Hi everyone. I want to know if nowadays (2020) Metafun is able to do an actual unfill, like above: https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/151068/how-can-i-fill-a-complex-pat… Example of what I want to do: \startMPpage path A, B, C; A := unitcircle shifted (-center unitcircle); A := A scaled 4cm; B := unitcircle shifted (-center unitcircle); B := B scaled 1cm; %C := (reverse B) shifted (left*1.4cm); %It works for two paths fill (reverse B)-- A -- cycle withcolor red; %fill A -- (reverse B) -- C -- cycle withcolor red; %When I try the same with three paths, a thin, unwanted line appears \stopMPpage I'm aware of unfill and I've read somewhere else about using pens instead, but I want to know if a better solution is possible. A syntax sugar for ConTeXt

Dear List, I'm experimenting with a new syntax for ConTeXt and would appreciate it a lot if you could give some opinions/advice on it. https://github.com/champignoom/luax Details in the README. Basically it's lua code faking tex, while remaining a decent programming language, and saving keystrokes to the level of tex compared to \ctxlua -only codes A major motivating example is the table. There are multiple implementations of table inside and outside ConTeXt, each of which uses its own ad-hoc syntax, but at the end of the day they're just mimicking 2d arrays with some variations. Hi, I might have uploaded a new version by accident so be careful when you update. Make a backup first. Sorry, The test suite compiles, which doesn't day all is ok as i just run it. There are no funcional changes, only a bit of conceptual reworking of some internals in the process of adapting to new features as well as protection, so \starttext \start \def\framed{oeps} \stop \stoptext is permitted, but when you run with context --overloadmode=warning you get a warning and with context --overloadmode=error the run aborts. Here is a user macro example: \frozen \def\foo{oeps} \def\foo{oeps} % warning or error \overloaded\def\foo{oeps} % okay eventually all system macros will be way more protected, being primitive, permanent, immutable to mention some of the possible properties. It's work in progress as you can imagine some pitfals and in order for it to work well quite some has to be flagged. Also, I have to play with some related additions. (This version also makes more extensive use of some new macro features but that's for later.) multiparagraph quotation

I'm trying to get quotation marks at the beginning of each new paragraph in quotations (in ConTeXt Mk IV), as is the convention in English. Here's a minimal working example of what I have tried: \setupdelimitedtext[quotation][repeat=yes, middle="] \starttext \quotation{\input knuth } \stoptext However, it doesn't put left quotes at the start of each paragraph the way I'd like it to. I got this approach from the wiki page https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/setupdelimitedtext . However, I'm guessing this may have been only for Mk II since the \setupdelimitedtext doesn't seem to do anything here. (From what is said above on the wiki page, it looks like this might be only for Mk II, but I can't t tell.) I have searched the mailing list and stackexchange but haven't found a solution. I'm guessing that there's a simple way to do this that I am just not aware of. I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer me (and I'd be glad to put the solution into the wiki if that's appropriate, too). Thanks, Sciurus

index entries postponed if sections are empty

Hi, I‘m despairing about my index – some sections contain only an image (\externalfigure), but I need to set several index entries for the image contents. The index entries get postponed until after the next chapter. I guess the problem is that there’s no (text) content, but \par and \strut didn’t help. The MWE shows that index entries in empty sections are ignored, i.e. “Something” is supposedly only on p.6: \usemodule[visual] \starttext \dorecurse{5}{% \startchapter[title={\recurselevel}] \dorecurse{5}{% \startsection[title={\fakewords{3}{5}}] \index{Something}\index{A\recurselevel} } \stopchapter } \completeindex \stoptext What can I do? context.delayed is incompatible with some functions

Dear List, I was reading Typesetting in Lua using LuaTEX <https://www.ntg.nl/maps/41/11.pdf>. By playing with the examples in the article, I found that `context.chapter(context.delayed("one"))` does not render the delayed text properly, while `context.bf(context.delayed("one"))` does. I would like to ask whether this difference is by design and, if not, whether there is any systematic way of giving delayed arguments to `context.chapter`, where by "systematic way" I'm referring to a proper use of the existing definition of "\chapter" instead of any faked duplication of it that visually resembles a chapter title.
