Hi, I am typesetting a newsletter using newcolumnsets, and I am struggling with placing my graphics. Why isn't the graphic on page 2 at the bottom (code below)? about SimpleSlides

Hi all, SimpleSlides is very useful for novice users so I do use it. But I encountered few problems which, I'm afraid, might be known. When we use a style BigNumber (or Embossed), an error occured: --------- tex error > tex error on line 87 in file /usr/share/texmf/tex/context/third/simpleslides/s-simpleslides-BigNumber.tex: ! Undefined control sequence l.87 \beginOLDTEX --------- I modified s-simpleslides-BigNumber.tex as follows: comment out from line #87 to #99 % \beginOLDTEX ... % \endLUATEX except line #98 \definefontsynonym [BigNumberFont] [name:texgyreherosbold] then it seems to work fine. But I suspect unconditional definition is not good so I'd like to know the correct fix. Another problem is with style Split. Browsing simpleslides.pdf, I think date, author, title and page number should be displayed on each slide but, in fact, we can't see them except page number. It seems, e.g. the following in s-simpleslides-Split.tex fails to get the "date". draw \sometxt[simpleslides:sometxt:left]{\getvariable{simpleslides:title}{date}} I think it is very helpful to see date, title on a slide so I'd like to know the fix. Figure labels in combinations

I am trying to typeset two or more figures next to each other, inside a floating environment, each with its own label. I am familiar with a mechanism of the form \startplacefigure[reference=pic] \startcombination[3*1] {figure 1}{a} {figure 2}{b} {figure 3}{c} \stopcombination \stopplacefigure which then requires \in{figure}{b}[pic] to reference, as documented on the context wiki. The problem with this mechanism is that if figure 2, say, is moved elsewhere and ts label becomes "d", all references to it have to be corrected by hand. Is there a mechanism to reference directly the figures inside, without having to depend on the outer float? What I am thinking of, is an hypothetical "\placeinlinefigure" command, so that one could write, in analogy with \placefigure, \startplacefigure[number=no] \startcombination[3*1] {\placeinlinefigure[pic1]{figure 1}}{} {\placeinlinefigure[pic2]{figure 2}}{} {\placeinlinefigure[pic3]{figure 3}}{} \stopcombination \stopplacefigure so that one could then use \in[pic1] Of course, there is then the issue of having the ability to use the same counter of the placefigure environment, and of disabling the combination caption. I could not find anything along these lines in the documentation; also tried to concoct a "nonfloating" float or to use an enumeration, but was not able to come up with a solution. Luca

(again) inmargin attachments in notes

Hi Hans, I have the following sample: \showframe\showgrid \setupinteraction[state=start] \setupinteractionscreen[option=attachment] \setupattachment[location=inmargin] \starttext a\attachment[file=xml-mkiv.pdf] b\footnote{\attachment[file=i-context.pdf]} \stoptext Inmargin attachment from notes aren’t shown in Acrobat nor displayed in margin. Files are embedded. I have a bunch of documents (over 100) in which I have to embed other PDF documents and I need them to be in the marginal space from notes. In a two column layout, activate line numbering for one column only

Dear list members, I am trying to recreate a layout for some dictionary with ConTeXt. It is a two column layout with line numbering between the columns, that is, there is only one numbering for both columns. How can I do this with ConTeXt? I would need either an option to activate line numbering only for one column, which, as far as I can see, does not exist; or I could use the "command" option for "\setuplinenumbering" to make the line numbers dissappear for one column, but then I would need some way to decide whether a line number belongs to the first or to the second column, some command that returns to me the number of the actual column, which I can't find, too. For illustration, I give a minimal example: ||\setuppapersize[A4][A4]\setupbodyfont[9pt]|| |||\setupcolumns[n=2, distance=1cm, ]\setuplinenumbering[step=5, method=page, location=right, align=flushright, width=.25cm]\starttext\startcolumns\startlinenumbering\dorecurse{10}{\inputlorem}\par\stoplinenumbering\stopcolumns\stoptext||| In the result, there are (as is to be expected) line numbers between both columns and also to the right of the second column. consecutive full stops in "num" bib style after "et al"

In the "num" bibliography style, bibliography entries that get "et al."ed (the author list is too long and "et al." is inserted) end up with two full stops in a row. Here's a minimal example: \setupbibtex[database=tmp] \setuppublications[alternative=num] \setuppublicationlist[artauthoretallimit=3, authoretaldisplay=3, editoretaldisplay=3, artauthoretaldisplay=3, % authoretaltext={ et al}, % artauthoretaltext={ et al}, ] \starttext Test \cite[Larkin:1980]. \blank[big] \placepublications[criterium=text] \stoptext (The tmp.bib file is attached.) The bibliography entry is: [1] Jill Larkin, John McDermott and Dorothea P. Simon et al.. Expert and novice performance in solving physics problems. Science, 208(4450):1335--1342, 1980. The doubled full stop can be fixed by commenting in the two lines % authoretaltext={ et al}, % artauthoretaltext={ et al}, Should these commented-in settings be the default for the "num" style (because it'll always put one more full stop between the author list and the title)? Another workaround is never to use et al. But that idea failed when I had to cite the Nobel-Prize-winning gravity-wave paper ("Observation of Gravitational Waves from a Binary Black Hole Merger"). Override MathML formula label

Hi all. In processing MathML if I want a formula to be numbered I add a label="X" attribute to the <formula> tag as per: \usemodule[mathml] \starttext \xmlprocessdata{}{<formula label='X'> <math xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML'> <mi>p</mi><mo>=</mo><mi>c</mi><mo>-</mo><mi>t</mi> </math> </formula>}{} \stoptext This will label the formula as (1). I know I can adjust how the automatic numbering is generated using \setupformulae, but how can I override the label used for a specific formula, say to set it to (36A)? Basically I have a setup where formulae are mostly numbered sequentially but occasionally individual formulae need to have an out-of-sequence or differently formatted number. grid+formulas: bug or expected behavior?

Dear all, I'm typesetting a document with grid layout and some formulas, like in the minimal example below: %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% \setuplayout[grid=yes] \showgrid \starttext \input knuth %\blank \startformula a = b + c \stopformula \input knuth \stoptext %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% I don't have any specific need for the alignment of the formula with respect to the grid, but I expect the text below the formula to be on the grid. However, I've not been able to achieve that with any of the layout options described in the latest "details.pdf" manual: in all cases I've tried the text below the formula doesn't "sit" on the grid. While I do not understand this behavior, I've thought that it could be the intended one, because this is what happens in chapter 4 of the "details" manual. Then, I noticed that in older versions of the same manual (for example the one included in texlive 2017) the behavior shown in chapter 4 is the one I expect: the text after formulas is aligned to the grid. So I'm a bit puzzled: should the text after formulas be aligned to the grid or not? Is this a (known?) bug or intended behavior? If this is the expected behavior, I can live with that because by trial and error I found a workaround. If I employ a \blank command before the formula (as in the commented line in the above example), the text after the formula is "correctly" aligned. Thank you in advance. LD
