Django: using ConTeXT mkiv to output PDF

i have a small Django app <https://bitbucket.org/kaddourkardio/kardiology> to manage my patients data, and use LaTeX to output reports. It consists un a *parent* model called Patients and child models Consultation , StressEcho and so on. \setvariables and database module

Hi all, I need to create a document using a database and the \setvariables command (which I understood thanks to Wolfgang Schuster). Everything works fine except that using the approach below I need to change the entries in the database by enclosing each entry between a pair of braces {}, because otherwise the macro I have imagined does not work as expected. In the example below the first line of entries is treated correctly, while the second one is understood wrongly by my macro \maketalk defined below in the minimal example. It is indeed possible, in theory, to change the database file so that each entry is enclosed in a pair of braces, but I would like to avoid that mainly because I am not the one who produces nor maintains that file and I want to avoid modifying a copy of that file myself. How can I change my approach to this problem in order to achieve what is needed? Many thanks for any hint. Expansion help needed, getvariable and TABLE

Listers, I have a problem, and a question on ConTeXt programming efficiency. In the example below, I have a set of variables. When these are reference directly via \getvariable, everything works as expected in simple text and in TABLEs. When I \define a macro to the \getvariable, that works in simple text, but only the value of the last iteration appears in the TABLE. The macro definition is saved and when it is used, that is the value that it has. So, how can I \define (or \def, ...) a macro to the expanded value to avoid this? That is the problem. The question is, Is there is any advantage to be had in doing this? Assume that the value is referenced many (tens of) times. bold formulas

How to display a bold formula (here Bragg's law): \starttext \startformula \bf 2d\sin θ_n = nλ \stopformula \stoptext The problem is that \sin is not bold. Suggestions on better practice? Alan

about \placeindex: uppercase initial and lowercase initial, two languages

Hi, To place the index at the end of the book, I put \placeindex before \stopproduct. It is compiled well. But, for the better output, I have two questions about the index. 1. In the output, it distinguished uppercase and lowercase initial. For example, S Squeeze theorem s set simple statements … Is there a way to make index combining the lowercase and the uppercase together as follows? s set simple statements … Squeeze theorem 2. The index shows the English letters first and the Koren letters follows. Although it is OK that English words are shown first, is there a way to make Korean words are shown first since the main language is Korean? Since I just use “\placeindex”, I don’t give a Minimal sample. Thank you. Best regards, Dalyoung

How to make the first chapter number 0?

Hi, I’d like to start the chapter number from 0. So I tried “\setcounter[chapter][-1]” or “\setcounter[chapter][0]” to test, but it doesn’t work. Is there any good method to make the number of the first chapter 0? Thank you for reading. Best regards, Dalyoung

Placing a figure with a command for the file in mkiv

Hi all, I have a document (sort of proceedings of a meeting) which have to contain several pages, with each page dedicated to an author and a specific figure (say a photo). In mkii I used to do have a command like \define\authorpicture{hacker.jpg} and then use a command like: \externalfigure[\authorpicture] to include that figure in the text, and everythinng worked ver nicely in my big document. Unfortunately this scheme does not work anymore in mkiv… How can I change the following code (which works in mkii) in order to have it work in mkiv? Bug in interaction and button?

Hi Hans, While experimenting with \button according to your suggestions, I noticed that there might be a bug somewhere between interaction and the button command: the following code (sent by you some years ago…) works fine as expected in mkii but does not work in mkiv (neither the most recent beta, nor the stable one from TeXLive 2017). The link to jump to the figure works fine, but the one to jump back (PreviousJump) does not work in mkiv.
