The command \xmlinclude{}{}{} includes the file specified by attribute IDENTIFIER of the element located by LPATH at NODE. What I would like to do is including a bunch of .xml files where the directory to load from is given. Is this a possibility or could this be a feature added to the ConTeXt XML-processing in a new beta? Hans van der Meer

How do I set the path to the figure cache?

By default, converted figures (m_k_i_v_foo.pdf for source figure foo.svg) are written to the same directory as the source figure. I would like all converted figures to be written instead to a cache directory in my home directory. How do I set this path? Best Regards, Kevin

processing very big tables

Hi all, I need some fundamental advice from experienced users: I'm processing xml and collecting the data in lua tables, which I want to typeset in some sort of table or tabular format. Typesetting requirements are fairly low, just a couple of columns that need to be nicely aligned, with the occasional horizontal overflow that should be handled gracefully (i.e. longer lines should be broken), and of course, the table has to break across pages. However, the lua tables have several thousands of entries, and I expect the final document to have around 3,000 pages. When I tried Natural Tables, I got a "TeX capacity exceeded" error, which disappeared when I tried with a smaller part of my document. So my question is: what is the most "inexpensive" way of typesetting this sort of material? One of the table environments? Which one (would xtables be better?)? Or low-level vboxes within hboxes etc.? Or just \framed within \framed? What would you suggest for this sort of material? Thanks for your insights! Thomas

side caption top aligned on grid -- not implemented?

At http://tex.stackexchange.com/q/362215/6819 I asked: How can I place the top line of the caption (location={left, high}) on the grid and have it align with the figure at same height. I hoped this to be solvable by some simple instructions that I just haven’t been able to figure out. But Henri Menke suggested in a comment that the mechanism might not be implemented. Is this really the case? And if so: is there any way to achieve the alignment anyway? I’d greatly appreciate any help as this is an important requirement for my present project! get current fontstyle with lua

Hello list, I need the lua equivalent of \fontstyle, a function that returns a string like "rm", "ss", etc. A lua equivalent for \doifelse{\fontstyle}{ss}{...}{...} to write lua code like this: local fs = get_current_font_style() if fs == "ss" then ... else ... end Thanks, best greetings MF

query re placing a float

I have a paragraph of text and I would like to place a float to the left so that there a some lines above the float, some beside, and some below. Is there a way to do this? What I have so far breaks the paragraph in two: one before the float and one beside it (with a few lines below). If I invoke the float before the paragraph, there are no lines above the float. \starttext Quisque facilisis erat a dui. Nam malesuada ornare dolor. See my mail in http://tug.org/pipermail/luatex/2017-March/006410.html http://tug.org/pipermail/luatex/2017-March/006413.html Reason: I could not build usable binaries for the new sources by linking dynamically lua-5.2.4 or luajit. Problem loading a DLL with the latest Ctx beta

In usual luatex, ffi needs --shell-escape, since ffi is dangerous from the point of view of the security. As you know, ConTeXt allows --shell-escape, so the following works with context test.tex. % % context test.tex % \starttext \placeformula \startformula j_1(2.387) = \startluacode local ffi = require("ffi") ffi.cdef[[ double _j1(double x); ]] local mscrt = ffi.load("msvcrt") tex.print(mscrt._j1(2.387)) \stopluacode \stopformula \stoptext In the above example, a function _j1(x) in msvcrt.dll is evaluated. The msvcrt.dll must be loaded as above, because standard C library is linked statically. The following DLLs can be used without loading, because luatex knows them: SHLWAPI.dll WSOCK32.dll USER32.dll ADVAPI32.dll SHELL32.dll KERNEL32.dll WS2_32.dll GDI32.dll Note that you may not be able to use "DLL Lua Modules" in this way. frac font feature doesn't work as expected

Strange behaviour with spacing in itemization using "columns" vs "horizontal".

Hi folks, I noticed a difference in how spacing is set after an itemization. I have the following example: ----------------------------- \starttext \startitemize[packed, joinedup, columns, two] \startitem top left item \stopitem \startitem bottom left item \stopitem \startitem top right item \stopitem \startitem bottom right item \stopitem \stopitemize Notice the size of the blank space? \startitemize[packed, joinedup, horizontal, two] \startitem top left item \stopitem \startitem top right item \stopitem \startitem bottom left item \stopitem \startitem bottom right item \stopitem \stopitemize Notice the size of the blank space? \stoptext --------------------------------- Both itemizations are the same except item order and using "columns" in the first one and "horizontal" in the second. Yet the spacing after the first itemization seems not right. Or do I oversee something? Greetings, Sebastian
