How to put the same page a few times in the document

A default editor for ConTeXt standalone?

Hi all, just a thought. Some time ago wise people decided to include TeXworks into TeXlive, so that newbies installing TeXlive can get a "batteries-included" package (not having to choose/install an editor). Would it be (a) reasonable and (b) not too much time-consuming to do a similar move with ConTeXt standalone? I'm not saying it would have to be TeXworks (or my beloved Emacs, for that matter;)). I am aware that this is an additional work to maintain etc., and I'm probably not capable of doing it myself, but... bug with \setupdirection[bidi=on]

Dear list, the following sample shows the bug I tried to report yesterday: \setupdirections[bidi=on] \starttext \section[sectionone]{Section one} \section[sectiontwo]{Section two} \section[sectionthree]{Section three} \section{Section four} As said in \about[sectionone], \about[sectiontwo] and \about[sectionthree]\footnote{footnote.}, \stoptext With bidi=on enabled, \about references starting from the second one are misplaced at the bottom of the page. writetolist doesn't include sectionnumber in mkiv?

With MkIV, I'm having trouble getting \writetolist to include sectionnumbers. Or at least, I cannot get the typeset list to include the sectionnumbers (but maybe writetolist sent in the information). Here's a minimal example, which is almost exactly the example from the wiki at <http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/setuplist>. The only change is that I've included [order=command] so that the \hrule ends up at the right place. \definelist[Reprints][criterium=all] \starttext \section{Sec 1} \writetolist[Reprints]{1.}{List entry A} \subsection{Subsec 1} \writebetweenlist[Reprints]{\hrule} \writetolist[Reprints]{2.}{List entry B} \completelist[Reprints][order=command] \stoptext When typeset (I'm using the 2014.02.14 beta), the completelist looks like: List entry A 1 -------------------- List entry B 1 But the 1. and 2. didn't show up in the left column. I tried adding \setuplist[Reprints][sectionnumber=yes] but that didn't help. Does one need to define an alternative that includes sectionnumbers? -Sanjoy

underbraces slightly too narrow (with MkIV 2013.05.28)

In certain cases, display-mathunderbraces are not quite wide enough. Here's a minimal example: =================== \starttext \placeformula\startformula \underbrace{15\,\tf cm}_{L} \stopformula \stoptext =================== Using 2013.05.28 00:36 MKIV (from vanilla TL2013), the left brace tip starts under the vertical bar of the "1", instead of enclosing the serif as well. The right brace tip ends between the last two tines of the "m", instead of enclosing the whole "m" and its serifs. With 2013.04.09 10:38 MKII, the brace tips extend just slightly beyond the "15 cm", which is better. However, they seem slightly too close. As a test, I ran the comparable plain-TeX file through LuaTeX and PDFTeX. ================== $$ \underbrace{15\,\rm cm}_{L} $$ \bye ================== The gap between the right brace tip and the text is slightly greater (with either LuaTeX or PDFTeX), and it looks right. (With the 2012.05.30 MKIV on live.contextgarden.net, the result is similar to the Lua/PDFTeX versions, though not identical, and also looks reasonable.) -Sanjoy

missing underbrace using palatino with latest beta (2013.12.26)

With 2013.12.26 12:50 MKIV beta, the underbrace disappears. With a bigger target (e.g. "xyz" instead of "x") or with the default font, the underbrace returns. -- -Sanjoy

Strange output from linear_shade (METAPOST)

I need to create some graphics to teach energy. One of the illustrations is about the sound energy that I represent using linear_shade function. In the following example the first illustration is represented correctly, but the second call of the function SoundEnergy implies the loss of gradient. What am I doing wrong? bug in page break and footnotes

Dear list, I have just discovered that there is a buggy interaction between references and footnotes. The sample is taken form a book I’m writing. When including two \about and a footnote at the end of the paragraph, ConTeXt is not able to move the two last lines from paragraph to the next page (http://www.ousia.tk/wrong-break.pdf) But the weird thing is that both the footnote and the text from the second \about to the end of the line are placed at the bottom of the page. If I remove any of the two \about, text is not misplaced, but footnote reference and point are (http://www.ousia.tk/wrong-footnote.pdf) And if I remove both \about or replace them with \at or \in, everything works as expected (http://www.ousia.tk/right-break.pdf) Sorry, but I’m afraid I cannot provide a code sample that reproduces the bug. I tried it and it worked fine. And I have no idea of what might trigger the bug. BTW, I’m using beta from 2014.02.01 14:22. AFAIK, this is the latest one. narrowered columns on background image?

Hi All, in the following two code examples I tried to place text in columns on a background image. The first example, partly achieved by plain TeX commands is ok, even narrowering works. Have a look at the attached .pdf file. The second example isn't ok. Neither narrowering nor putting the text into columns work. Though the code of the first example is completely good enough for me, I'd like to learn where my mistakes in the 2. example are. Any ideas? My apologies for my late reaction. As for my first problem, the link you gave showed me what I needed. Problem solved. As for my second problem, the relative dimensions of the three columns in the List of Examples, I could no see how I could create a representative ME in a short time, so instead I experimented with the many parameters for \setuplist and eventually found a satisfactory solution.
