system fonts access under macosx (again)

as advised I have installed standalone context in order to get better support of system fonts under macosx. I now have had the following happen to me: 1. after installation of `standalone' and straightening out unrelated problems with `\usemodule' usage I managed to get proper support of -- that's the specific font I wanted to use -- the `Optima' font family. Notably I got italics where I wanted them. so far so good. 2. then I discovered that standalone context does not include the very nice `EB Garamond' font (although there are some files in the context tree apparently related to tweaking some things related to this font) -- contrary to texlive where `context` finds this font just fine. 3. instead of putting this font into the standalone `context' tree (which I tried initially without luck -- on second thought I probably would have needed to do a `mtxrun --script fonts --reload' ...) I installed these (otf) fonts systemwide. (as an aside: is there a way of notifying standalone context of the location of the `texlive' font directories?) 4. contrary to what I seem to have read in the documentation somewhere (??) the fonts were than _not_ looked up "on demand" (i.e. where not found automatically when compiling the document wanting to use this font) but only found after I did a manual `mtxrun --script fonts --reload' 5. now `ebgaramond' works fine _but_ out of the `Optima' fonts now only the regular font is found and reported by `mtxrun ... fonts` if I interpret this output correctly: optima optimaregular /System/Library/Fonts/Optima.ttc index: 4 optimanormal optimaregular /System/Library/Fonts/Optima.ttc index: 4 optimaregular optimaregular /System/Library/Fonts/Optima.ttc index: 4 so I seem back to square one in this respect :-(. I can only assume that this has been caused by the `--reload' run (see item 1. above: intitially `optima' italics worked) and/or maybe still fragile support of these `ttc' (true type collection) files? just a guess. what am I doing wrong _this_ time? thx, joerg -- Using Opera's revolutionary email client: http://www.opera.com/mail/

Dear, sorry for the dumb question. how do I increase text height by reducing the space under footer without changing the other ones? useattachment

Dear list, In the previous version of a programming manual I wrote I used this definition: \define[1]\Ex{\externalfigure[code/#1] \useattachment[ex][code/#1.scd] \attachment[ex] } In this way I could have \Ex{sintesi/sineArray} where sintesi/sineArray.scd is the path of code example and sintesi/sineArray.pdf is the path of a pdf figure with coloured syntax . I’m revising the manual and using mk IV. Now, concerning the attachment, in mk IV the marker on the generated pdf always points to the same .scd file. But while reading the pdf in Acrobat Reader if I’m passing the mouse over the marker the displayed path seems to be the correct one. Am I doing anything wrong here? access to system fonts under MacOSX

newbie question: how can I get access to fonts installed outside the TeX tree under MacOSX (10.9 to be precise)? mtxrun --script font --list --name --pattern=* shows lots of fonts (so they are recognized by context, I'd guess) but the simple-minded approach, namely to trying something like \starttypescript [stix] \definetypeface [stix] [rm] [serif] [stix] [default] \definetypeface [stix] [ss] [sans] [adventor] [default] \definetypeface [stix] [tt] [mono] [cursor] [default] \definetypeface [stix] [mm] [math] [stix] [default] \stoptypescript \usetypescript[stix] \setupbodyfont[stix,12pt] fails with `unknown library stix'. obviously I am doing something wrong -- or is this a luatex problem not being able to find the system fonts? thx, joerg -- Using Opera's revolutionary email client: http://www.opera.com/mail/

1. Is there a generally preferred math font to use with Antykwa Poltawskiego? 2. What are the best practices for setting inline math that causes variation in the interline spacing? Strange bug with overviewpage module.

Hi, Some time ago, Hans had helped me to write an 'overviewpage' module, that makes it easy to show a overview of the important slides at the end of a presentation. I have tweaked this module slightly to be able to save an arbitrary page by using \saveoverviewpage{reference} and reuse the page by \useoverviewpage{reference} An example is: \usemodule[overviewpage] \setuppapersize[S4] \setupframedtext[rulethickness=3pt] \starttext \startframedtext \input ward \stopframedtext \saveoverviewpage{ward} \page \input tufte \page \scale[width=0.5\textwidth]{\useoverviewpage{ward}} \stoptext However, when I save a page that contains a framed box (as in the above example), the box looses its right frame when it is displayed again (see page 3 of the attached pdf). It appears that the left edge is twice as thick. Any idea why this is happening and how I can avoid this? Thanks, Aditya

[fontloader] crash in font-otf.lua / actions["reorganize glyph anchors"]

Hi Hans, this bug was reported a while ago by user Thérèse on tex.stackexchange.com [1]. The font “Eadui.ttf” [2] causes the fontloader to access a nil value because the “Anchor-1” table is sparse (nil at index 3). vertical alignment of table of contents in makeup

There is a trick mentioned on the wiki for top-aligning the contents of a makeup page, namely adding "top=,", which cancels the default value of \vss, which is infinitely strechable space. However, that doesn't seem to work when the first element in the makeup page is \completecontent: \starttext % top= here doesn't seem to be working... \startmakeup[standard][top=,] \completecontent \section{testsection} \stopmakeup \stoptext Here, the table of contents and the section are both placed on the makeup page, but they are centered vertically. If the \completecontent line is commented out, the correct vertical alignment of the section header is obtained. Is there a way to get top-alignment when a makeup page starts with \completecontent? Is this a bug? Or should I even be using makeup pages in my table of contents? Mark

setting margins in makeup

I'm having trouble resetting my margins in makeup pages. I want the makeup pages to have equal topspace, bottomspace, backspace and cutspace, regardless of the standard layout of the rest of the document. Following Wolfgang's recommendation ( http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2014/079409.html) I tried the following: \setuppapersize [A4][A4] % Standard page layout \setuplayout [width=middle, backspace=1.5in, cutspace=1.5in, height=middle, topspace=0.75in, bottomspace=0.75in] % Title page layout % \definemakeup defines a layout with the same name, which we alter. \definemakeup[titlepage] \setuplayout [titlepage][width=middle, backspace=20mm, height=middle, topspace=20mm] \starttext \startmakeup[titlepage][top=,] bla \stopmakeup But, on my system, this puts the "bla" too far from the top of the page, and it looks as though the topspace has not been set properly. (Backspace seems ok), Am I doing something wrong or is there a better way to achieve this? Also, the manual says I can use the command \showframe to display frames to help in debugging, but that doesn't seem to do anything for me? Thanks in advance, Mark
