I got this eMail, and copy it here, maybe someone understands what changed and caused this Bug. ++++++++++++++++++ I looked at your not_so_short_example in ntg-context Digest, Vol 101, Issue 53, 18 November 2012, and I found that your problem, the section title alone at the bottom of a page, occurs only in some versions of the ConTeXt standalone, not in others. That on TeXLive will be OK (it was on my installation) My recent version of ConTeXt (14-11-2012) was not OK but some older versions (from march and may this year and even as recent as october 28) do not give your problem. For he others, I tried to avoid the problem by adding to your setup: \clubpenalty=10000 % keine Schusterjungen / no clubs (from Ubuch) \widowpenalty=10000 % keine Hurenkinder / no widows but that did not change anything, starngely enough. Maybe you could ask Hans Hagen or Wolfgang Schuster to have a look at the code and find out what's wrong. I hope this helps a little for the time being. +++++++++++++ Huseyin

Suddenly can't run context

Something has changed on my system and I can't find it. Perhaps someone can point me where I should look. I've had the texlive2012 installed since it came out and until a couple of days ago everything worked just fine. All of a sudden, things changed. I did nothing directly to the texlive distribution. wwm@escherton$ context --version gives the error output at the end of this note wwm@escherton$ sudo context --version works just fine wwm@escherton$ mtxrun --version works just fine as does mtxrun --script fonts --reload &c. I created a new user. context@escherton$ context --version works just fine I deleted the texlive distribution and re-installed it. No change. I've run sudo context --generate several times with no change in behavior. I've deleted the local .texlive2012 directory but since context won't run, it doesn't get recreated. I can set TEXMF and then context will run but it takes a much longer time than usual and the disk activity light is on almost solid. Any ideas? Maybe I'm reading the documentation (such as it is) wrong but I would expect specifying [location=hanging] to drop the margin text down alongside what follows instead of raising up to be even with what has preceded it. Minimal example: \starttext \input montgomery \inright[][align=right,location=hanging]{Shoulder Text} \input knuth \stoptext The "Shoulder Text" is aligned upward from the end of ward so it is alongside the ward quote. I would have expected it to be aligned downward alongside the knuth quote. Am I missing something? -- Bill Meahan Westland, Michigan USA

Hello, Does anyone have a suggestion how to use \dorecurse within combinations? (without having to use lua...) Is it possible to arrange pages so that they fall alternating on two sides of the sheet?

Hi all, I have something like this: \definepapersize[thin][width=210mm,height=74.25mm] \setuppapersize[thin][A4] \setuppaper[nx=1,ny=4] \setuplayout[topspace=1.5cm,backspace=1.5cm, header=0mm,footer=0mm, width=middle,height=middle] \setuparranging[XY] I'd like to have pages 1, 3, 5, 7 on one side of the A4 sheet, and 2, 4, 6, 8 on the other one. In other words, there should be two (A4-sized) pages in the pdf. (My use case is a short quiz for my wife's students - she wants to save paper;).) Bonus points for making pages 5-8 *identical* to pages 1-4, so that: on pages 1-2 (top of the A4 sheet, both sides) there is one problem set; on pages 3-4 (just below the previous one) there is another; on pages 5-6 (yet below) the first problem set is repeated; on pages 7-8 (bottom) the second one gets repeated again. Two columns in a frame

Hi All, I'm doing something where the example at http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Columns#.28Simple.29Columns_in_a_narrow_frame would be quiet useful. Except that if I copy-paste the example in my ConTeXt, I get two columns typeset almost on top of each other, with non-existent column distance (a lot less than on the graphic in the wiki). Attached is what I get out of my ConTeXt, version 2012.05.30 11:26 MKIV BTW, the columns page doesn't seem to contain information on how to force a column break, at least not under that name.... I'm attaching a short version of the file where I'd need it. Being clueless again, thankful for any help, Mari

TeX files in fonts/ directory

Hi, I am using ConTeXt standalone. Normally I unzip or git clone the fonts that I regularly use in $HOME/texmf/fonts/opentype/data directory, since I assume that all the extra files in there will simply be ignored by TeX. However, I recently noticed that MkIV finds a test.tex file from inside the fonts/ directory. In particular: $ luatools test.tex /home/adityam/texmf/fonts/opentype/data/euler-otf/tests/test.tex Should luatools only search for tex files inside $TEXMF/tex directories? Aditya
