menu changes in mkiv?

What has been changed regarding menus? Previous code stops working with the following error message: ! Missing { inserted. <to be read again> \par <inserted text> ...ect \everysetmenucommands \par \par \par \par \definepale... \scrn_menu_insert_indeed ...\everysetmenucommands \csname \??am :\c!menu :\n... \scrn_menu_insert_checked ...nu_insert_indeed {#1} \fi \scrn_menu_bottom ... \scrn_menu_insert \v!bottom \kern \zeropoint \egroup \... \dogettextboxes ...\relax \the \bottomtextcontent \vskip \bottomheight \vfil… Better than this I cannot trace back. Problem about the mathe display

Hi everyone: I find a display problem recently with context. The context version of mine is: mtx-context | main context file: /opt/context/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/context.mkiv mtx-context | current version: 2011.08.23 13:04 when I use the context wiki problem I find the mathe formula show incorretly. the minimual example likes below: \starttext \startformula \int_0^\infty t^4 e^{-t}\.dt = 24 \stopformula \stoptext when I open the pdf file no matter using evince or adobe reader 9, I find the index of the integral cover the integral symbol. Is it a problem of mine or is it a bug of context? Thanks

wasy usage

In mkii I was using the 'wasy' font for symbols with \usemodule[symb-wasy]. Is this still valid or has it changed? Is the font in the minimals distribution with the other fonts? Otherwise, how to? Thanks in advance, Hans van der Meer

Side-by-Side tables

I am trying to place two tables side-by-side one another with equal spacing between the margin and each table and between tables. That is, I would like the layout to be like --- A --- B --- where A and B are tables and --- represents an equal amount of spacing on the left of table A, between tables A and B, and on the right of table B. At this point, I've been able to place A and B immediately beside one another using \startcombination[2*1] ... \stopcombination, but this doesn't give me the horizontal spacing between the tables that I would like. I would appreciate any help in getting the layout that I am looking for. Thanks in advance, Troy

R2L footnotes

There are two issues with right-to-left fontnotes, 1) the footnote number gets somewhere in the middle of the footnote text instead of being in the right margin 2) the footnote rule is left aligned: \setupalign[r2l] \starttext Text\footnote{Note} \stoptext Regards, Khaled -- Khaled Hosny Egyptian Arab

backref in ConTeXt bibliography

Hi everybody, Is there any simple macro / flag available that would result in the page numbers for the "place of citation" for individual bibliography entries to show up in the bibliography, i.e. is there some functionality similar to "backref" (http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/hyperref/) available in ConTeXt? I got pretty excited when I saw the option \setuppublicationlist[% pagenumber=yes,% ] in the manual since I expected it would do the job. I however cannot see any changes when setting this to "yes" in my document. As far as I can see there is also no explanation in the bib manual by Taco Hoekwater, right?! I would very much appreciate if one of you guys could point me to the right direction or even better provide me with some code snippets / a solution? Thanks in advance, Andreas

Prefixed reference mechanism broken (again) in latest current luatex

Hello! I know I'm about the only person in the world using the prefixed reference mechanism, but it really makes my life a lot easier when handling largish user manuals with tons of references. However, the system seems to be broken again, at least in LuaTeX in the newest current (ConTeXt ver: 2011.05.18 18:04 MKIV fmt: 2011.8.23 as of today). Good news is that ConTeXt doesn't crash on this and references inside each chapter (i.e. without calling for the prefixing mechanism) work fine. Bad news is that while the project at hand is so small I can keep track of unique reference names and thus bypass the problem, by next week I'll probably have to compile one of the larger projects and I *really* do not fancy going through every reference there to change them to non-prefixed... My minimal example worked on the Online ConTeXt in the Garden (pdftex and xetex), but when I'm running ConTeXt default, i.e. MkIV + LuaTeX, on my Windows7, this example fails exactly the same way that the real thing does (resulting pdf attached). ==================== \setuphead[chapter][prefix=+] \starttext \chapter[one]{Chapter One} \section[bla]{Blablabla} \chapter[two]{Chapter Two} See \in{Section}[one:bla] \stoptext ========================= I don't mind updating to a slightly newer version of ConTeXt, but at this stage it'll have to be something fairly "safe", deadlines are looming too close for any extensive experimenting. Oh well, at least the current doesn't crash on the references, so I can continue the editing job and sort out the double question marks later. Regards, Mari

ConTeXt in SciTe in Windows, non-working commands in Tools menu

Hello! While struggling with the prefixed referencing system, I found two commands in the Tools menu that fail miserably. As the commands I normally use (Ctrl+1/Process TeX file, Process and Arrange, Generate Formats (luaTeX) work fine, the problem is fairly local and neither is critical. If I remember it correctly, the command Tools | Update ConTeXt has never worked for me, but the error message has been different. What I get now is >mtxrun --autogenerate texshow --update --force mtxrun | kpse fallback with progname 'context' initialized in 0.03 seconds>Exit code: 1 Updating per se works, because when I did it on the command line, i.e. ran first-setup.bat --context=current something definitely came in and there are changes in for example directory texmf-modules (and yes, I did remember to generate formats and that command really worked). The other command that fails is Tools | Open Logfile (or Ctrl+E) and I'm fairly sure this one worked on the W7 laptop that I installed in August 2011 with the then up-to-date versions of SciTe and ConTeXt. The error message is pretty interesting, too: > Lua: error checking global scope for command I can of course open the log file in SciTe via the File menu, so this isn't a major problem, just an annoyance. I used to like my Ctrl+E quite a bit... The SciTe+ConTeXt combo I'm using now is on a 64-bit Windows7 laptop and I installed it about 10 weeks ago onto a brand new computer. My SciTe says it's version 2.26 of May 25, 2011. It is quite possible I'm running a different version from what's in the ConTeXt package as I fetch my SciTe separately from Scintilla so I get a civilised Windows installer that sets Windows context menus and other goodies all at one click. please fix command reference links on contextgarden

it does *still* not work. the fuction is defined as such: function show_command(URL) { open_window().location.href='http://texshow.contextgarden.net/cmd/' + URL; } and thus redirects to some url under http://texshow.contextgarden.net/. but no matter what that url is, the subdomain always redirects to the url http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Category:Reference/en (no, not http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Category:Reference/en/TheCommandName!) please fix it, whoeveer runs texshow.contextgarden.net

arbitrary tex-code in xml?

Hi all, must be the heat here in Germany - I'm all out of ideas, and I have no example yet. Maybe someone can help: is it possible to define an xml setup that will run arbitrary tex code? Something like this (obviously pseudo-code): in a TeX file MyInputs.tex which will be loaded at runtime, I have: \startTEXbuffer[mybuffer] \color[red]{Hello World!} \stopTEXbuffer in the xml, I have <gettexbuffer>mybuffer</gettexbuffer> and in the setups \input MyInputs \startxmlsetups xml:gettexbuffer \getTEXbuffer[\xmlflush{#1}] \stopxmlsetups I tried with simple \startbuffer[mybuffer] ... \getbuffer[mybuffer], but the result is that the TeX code is typeset verbatim, not processed (problem of catcodes?). Any takers before I pull myself together and try to come up with an example? Thanks! Thomas
