Line length limitation of typing block?

Hi. Please consider the following two examples: <file name="exa-feat1.tex"> \setupbackend[export=yes] \definetyping[EXAMPLE][escape=yes] \starttext This is an example with \quotation{long} verbatim text. Why context fails to compile the file? Is there a method to process this file? \startEXAMPLE This is a short verbatim line This this this this this this very very very very very very long long long long long long line line line line line line \stoptext \stoptext </file> <file name="exa-feat2.tex"> \setupbackend[export=yes] \definetyping[EXAMPLE][escape=yes] \starttext This is an example with \quotation{long} verbatim text. The version without buffer fails. \startbuffer[ex1] This is a short verbatim line This this this this this this very very very very very very long long long long long long line line line line line line \stopbuffer \startEXAMPLE /BTEX\getbuffer[ex1]/ETEX \stopEXAMPLE \stoptext </file> context (mkiv) fails to compile first file (error: <output name="exa-feat1.tex"> Runaway argument? This this this this this this very ve\ETC. ! File ended while scanning use of \dododowithbuffer. system > tex > error on line 0 in file : File ended while scanning use of \dododowithbuffer ... <empty file> <inserted text> \par <*> ./exa-feat1.tex \stoptext ? </output> ) Seems that there is a limitation on line length in typing block, then how to process a file with such line? The second example compiles well but the long is splitted. How to avoid this? (Adding ',space=fixed' to '\definetyping' doesn't help.) P.S. wrong mlib process calls

Hi, I have added the 'mtr' process in front of the normal 'tr' process. [mlib-pps.lua] ... appendaction(processoractions,"system",fg_process) appendaction(processoractions,"system",mtr_process) appendaction(processoractions,"system",tr_process) -- last, as color can be reset ... Strangely the 'mtr' process is also(!) called, if normal transparency ('tr') or text ('tx') is used. You can imagine that the 'cleanup code' has unwanted side effects here. :-) A change of the 'appendaction' order has no impact. I simply added commands.writestatus('mtr_process',table.serialize(prescript)) at the start of mtr_process and this is what I get for the attached example: mtr_process > t={ { "tr_transparency", "0.5" }, { "tr_alternative", "1" }, ["tr_alternative"]="1", ["tr_transparency"]="0.5", } mtr_process > t={ { "tr_transparency", "0.5" }, { "tr_alternative", "1" }, ["tr_alternative"]="1", ["tr_transparency"]="0.5", } mtr_process > t={ { "tx_stage", "final" }, { "tx_number", "1" }, ["tx_number"]="1", ["tx_stage"]="final", } Any ideas what goes wrong here? Why is the \crlf needed to display the table correctly

On of the things I need to do for the manual about ConTeXt is a list of the most frequently used commands. I am using some macros to display them correctly in a table. Attached a strange effect I got. The second row is displayed wrongly. The third is the same row, but with a \crlf added. This displays correctly. But I am wondering why it is needed. Missing font switch in 'export=yes'

Hi. Consider the following example: <file name="feat1.tex"> \setupbackend[export=yes] \starttext \definetyping[EXAMPLE][escape=yes] This is a small example. See the backend output (export file). How to put a word in the example between tags? \startEXAMPLE Here we go /BTEX\bold{AGAIN}/ETEX \stopEXAMPLE \stoptext </file> The 'AGAIN' in PDF file created by 'context' is bold but in 'feat1.export' file the word isn't placed between any tag. Should I use some special command in order to put 'AGAIN' between apropriate tags? -- Bradley's Bromide: If computers get too powerful, we can organize them into a committee -- that will do them in.

Italic correction

Footnote numbering pro page

I would like my footnote numbering start on every page with 1. I thought this should be done with: \setupnote[footnote][way=bypage] I also tried: \setupnotedefinition[footnote][indenting={yes, small, next}, way=bypage] But both do not work. What is the right way to do it? -- Cecil Westerhof

Use latest or current version

I work 'always' with the latest version of ConTeXt. Now a client is going to use it. Should I install for them also the latest version, or is it better to use the current version (--context=current)? -- Cecil Westerhof

List of special characters

While writing the documentation about using ConTeXt I need some 'special' characters. A few I have found, for example \%, \backslash, \texttilde, \percent. But until now I did not find how to represent [ and ]. How would I use those characters in my document? Also: is there somewhere a 'complete' list? I found several, but they where all for LaTeX and are not completely the same. For example LaTeX uses \textbackslash which does not work in ConTeXt which uses \backslash. -- Cecil Westerhof
