Plea for unicode help

Hi there, I'm experiencing a very strange error related to unicode at the moment and I can't pin down the problem for the life of me… The situation: I'm using context mkvi (2011.04.20 16:23) on Mac OS 10.6.7 (with the latest font patches in particular) and TeXShop 2.41. In my tex source file I have unicode letters with accents (like "clarín") and the file's encoding is set to UTF-8. It still looks like valid UTF-8 when opened with a different text editor, say SubEthaEdit or vim. The problem is, context compiles this to a PDF in which the accent is missing ("clarin"). The really strange thing happens now. I delete the offending letter and reenter it, in TeXShop there's *no* visual difference between before and after but the compiled pdf suddenly has the accent enabled again. I seem to remember that the missing accents issue didn't occur with a different font (Latin Modern vs. Minion Pro in context) for the *same* source. I'll have to check that again though. Has anyone seen this before? I wanted to ask up front before I really start digging into the issue… I might have missed something obvious. Many thanks, Oliver

Hi all, the wiki just asked me to verify my humanity through Hasselt’s zip code. From [1] I inferred that it would be the string “8061GH”, which was promptly rejected -- the next quiz proved to be easier and I finally won another wiki commit. bibliography basics

I haven't used bibliographies before and have a few basic questions. I am using mkiv, current version: 2011.04.03 22:32. 1. If I interpret the wiki pages correctly, the bib module is not needed for mkiv. On the other hand, examples I found in the archive have "\usemodule[bib]" included, although (I think) they were meant for mkiv, and leaving it out didn't affect the outcome. Question: has \usemodule[bib] no function in mkiv, never? 2. Where can I get documentation? Can Taco's bib-module documentation still be used? (In my experiments in some cases, not in others). 3. The "very basic example" on contextgarden (http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Bibliography_mkiv#Example_of_use) gave numbers in the text and an alphabetic list at the end. I added "\setuppublications[alternative=apa]". Would that be the way to do it? Please change it if there is something better (according to bibmod-doc, apa should be default). Thanks, Jörg

Dear all, I'm in need for a few custom cite commands like these: 1. \cite[alternative=authortitle, extras={, p.\,13}][citekey] should yield {\sc AuthorLastName}, AuthorFirstName, {\it title}, p.\,13 2. \cite[alternative=title][citekey] {\it title} How would I code these commands? Oliver

intertext error in mkiv

The example with start/stopintertext from 'mathalign.pdf' (My Way, Using \startalign and friends, Aditya Mahajan) gives error with current context (beta): <example file="ex2.tex"> %%% Seems that there is a problem with \start/stopintertext . Multiplication table (with lines) in ConTeXt?

I want to typeset a multiplication table, where there will be a horizontal line after the first row, and a vertical line after the first column. Bibliography question: one list of references per chapter and one overall list

Hello all, I am currently making up my thesis in ConTeXt. And I am thoroughly impressed with the professional looking result I already have, although I have only recently started using ConTeXt. Now, I have a question regarding reference lists: I would like to have one list per chapter (which are original research papers), but also one big list at the end of the thesis, as a separate chapter, containing all unique references in whole thesis. At the moment, I'm using the bib module. This works perfectly if I compile every single chapter separately (i.e. 'texexec chapter01.tex', for example). However, if I compile the whole component (i.e. 'texexec thesis.tex'), I obviously get at every chapter the same reference list, regardless whether the references were cited in that particular chapter. Does anyone have suggestions on how to accomplish this (if at all possible)? With kind regards, Renald

modules or packages for abbreviations for common math commands

Dear ConTeXt folks, is there a module or a package people have created for common things used in mathematics. `\set{ a, b, c }` for a set. `\EV{X}` for the expected value. `\P{ X = ½ }` for the probability. … If not, maybe a module could be created and maintained together to not reinvent the wheel.
