mod_php vs context: tight loop

Hello list, I have a PHP application which generates documentation on the fly with context. This has been working really well, but I am now testing deployment on a new server with a more recent version of context, and it seems to be somehow getting itself into a tight loop. When I run texexec via the mod_php apache module, the command never returns, and `ps ax` shows the following: 9709 ? S 0:00 sh -c texexec --check 2>&1 9710 ? S 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/bin/texexec --check 9711 ? R 9:59 /usr/bin/texlua /usr/bin/mtxrun --usekpse --execute texexec --check `top` shows the mtxrun process eating 99.9% CPU. Attaching an strace to this process, once it is underway, shows no output. My test script is as follows: <?php $result = null; system("texexec --check 2>&1", $result); print $result . It seems that this must be down to some kind of difference in Apache's execution environment -- I don't see any other way to explain the same PHP code working in cli and failing in mod_php, even when running as the same user. But what possible environmental factor could lead to mtxrun freaking out like this? I'm hoping someone on this list may be able to point me in the right direction. Dear ConTeXt folks, using ConTeXt ver: 2011.05.18 22:26 MKIV fmt: 2011.5.27 int: english/english the following example produces different integral signs. --- minimal example --- \starttext Using the NEO keyboard layout several math symbols can be inserted directly like $∫$ or $∩$. bibliography: current status, Wiki page Bibliography, [[error 2]] and bibltx

Dear ConTeXt folks, I am trying to use the module bib, but I only get [[error 2]] displayed. Searching the Wiki for it, it says that it was dropped in version 2006.04.06 [4]. Error while compiling : ! String contains an invalid utf-8 sequence.

Hello, I am trying to get japanese displayed in bibliography. But I get the error "! String contains an invalid utf-8 sequence." while compiling with the command "context *tex". terrible png placement

Something terrible must be done to png pictures, either in ConTeXt or in luatex. I have the following minimal sample code and picture. I include the png for those who want to check. % Test png addition. \starttext Place png figure.\par \placefigure{Test figure}{\externalfigure[test.png]} \stoptext Without the png-picture it makes an 8KB pdf. But with the png-picture the pdf swells to 1.8MB. And that for a png-picture of only 48KB. Moreover making a zip of all this stuff brought the size back to 110KB. In the log: ConTeXt ver: 2011.11.04 14:15 MKIV fmt: 2011.11.10 int: english/english mkiv lua stats > graphics processing time - 0.001 seconds including tex, 1 processed images What is done with the png and can it be remedied? This swelling up of small picture to such enormous proportions makes the inclusion of png-picture nearly impossible, at least impractable. Hans van der Meer

It’s a bug (maybe wrong default settings) which was introduced with Idris request to have lists which are local to a component, when you refer to the label with the name of the component as prefix (\getreference[text][part1:label:1]) the text is shown. no color with interaction and reference format

Hi list, when I am using reference formats to put text in front of my text references, I get no color. Please see the following minimal example \setupinteraction[state=start] \definereferenceformat[insec][text=section~] \starttext \section[mylabel]{A Section} A Reference to \in{section}[mylabel] and \insec[mylabel]. \stoptext On my machine only the first reference is red (aka colored), but I think both should be, as it was some betas ago. Is this a bug or has the interface changed? I'm using standalone 20111125 21:29 MkIV. Thanks in advance! Stefan

Why does the oldstyle numerals switch, \os, also switch off m-dashes?

I enclose a minimal example as well as the output. It would seem that the \os causes the m-dash to come out as three hyphens. Is this the expected behaviour? advTHANKSance. -- ----- - Pavneet Arora

Escaping a special character in a MetaPost figure within a ConTeXt document fails

I have escaped the '#' character in the usual way, using a backslash, as '\#' in a btex...etex picture as part of a MetaPost figure created within a ConTeXt document, but the escaped character still causes the ConTeXt processing to fail.
