Framed "environment"

Is there an "environment" (i.e., like a \startframed ... \stopframed) method for using \framed{ ... } on a block of text? Certain \start ... \stop combinations don't seem to play well with \framed{ ... }. For example, \usemodule[amsl] \starttext \framed{ \startformula \startalign A=B \stopalign \stopformula } \stoptext fails evidently because \framed{ ... } and the \startalign ... \stopalign don't like one another. -- Troy Henderson

textbackground

I get the impression that textbackground is not yet completely repaired in: The small example below shows that location text starts at the left margin instead of at the chosen point in the text. That is, the green part should be "text with background" instead of "result. This is text w". Paragraph background looks like it works again. % Testing textbackground \setuppapersize[A5]A5] \definetextbackground[testA][% location=paragraph,state=start,background=color,backgroundcolor=yellow] \definetextbackground[testB][% location=text,state=start,background=color,backgroundcolor=green] \starttext First para for test. \starttestA \input tufte \stoptestA Last para for text.\blank Intermediate.\par This is to fill up things a bit going to the next line in the result. google search box in wiki

Dear ConTeXt-ers, Thanks to Siep and Taco, the wiki now has google search box again. Mojca (The complication came from the fact that the site now uses only a single text window and three buttons that do different things.)

ConTeXt group

I wasn't aware of this: http://group.contextgarden.net/ (the "ConTeXt group"). Could somebody tell me, in more detail than on the above site, the purpose of it and in particular its relationship to NTG (which itself is already ConTeXt dominated)? Thanks, Jörg

Imposition eats footnote numbers (on the latest beta)

Hello there. With the latest beta, the following example fails to show the footnote number. Commenting the setuparranging shows it again. %% start minimal example \setuppapersize[A5][A4,landscape] \setuparranging[2UP] \starttext test\footnote{this is the note} \stoptext %% stop. Current (2011.05.18) is not affected. Best wishes -- Marco

Single user installation (Standalone)

Hi, I noticed that when updating the "suite" in my home directory I need to be a superuser. If not, I get: ---------------- ! I can't write on file `cont-en.log'. Please type another transcript file name: ---------------- Operating system: Mac 10.6.8 Is it ok to change the wiki accordingly? Cheers, Jörg

Pont, I agree they vary, and no space before the °C is quite common (and frequently my own practice too). However in setting default behaviour for Context I am inclined to favour conforming to international standards, where they exist (but a \setupunits override it probably called for). Robin

\in: incorrect space in example in reference

Dear ConTeXt folks, in the example for `\in` in the reference [1] there is a space after the »(«. \placeformula[eq:pythagoras] \startformula a^2+b^2=c^2 \stopformula This is explained in \in{Equation (}{)}[eq:pythagoras]. Normally this space is useful since the suffix is something like Table or Figure. Can `\in` be used with brackets or does another command have to be defined/used for that? \unit and Hertz, lux, and degrees/minutes/seconds

Dear Hans, Many thanks for implementing space=small in \setupunits. It works nicely for me. However in the latest beta, Hertz is typeset as hz not Hz. It looks like the problem is line 154 of phys-dim.lua (it was typeset correctly a couple of days ago). Also the symbol for lux (line 198) should be lx [2]. Degrees, minutes and seconds of arc (also degrees Celsius) are an exception and are not supposed to have any space between the digits and the degree symbol [1], so to be correct, I think Context should by default veto any space between digits and numbers, in these cases only. BTW, NIST has a handy reference for anyone typesetting physical quantities [1], although the BIPM documentation is the canonical reference. Footnote bug with \setuparranging

Hi all, I have a small problem with footnotes. If I use \setuparranging to print two A5 pages on one A4, the footnote index of the left page footnotes go to the right page. Here is a minimal example. %% START %% \setuppapersize[A5][A4,landscape] \setuparranging[2SIDE] \starttext \dorecurse{2}{\input tufte} Test of a small footnote \footnote{This one is numeroted on the wrong page.} with some usefull text. \dorecurse{6}{\input knuth} And another footnote test on the other side \footnote{This one works.}. \stoptext %% END %% Any idea of what to do?
