Differences for \Vert in mkii and mkiv

Dear Aditya, dear Hans, I noticed a serious difference between what one gets for \left\Vert in mkii and in mkiv. Probably this is due to the fact that in mkiv the glyph for \Vert is constructed in a different manner, but as far as I know from what I see in the mathematical printed materials, the correct one, or the expected one, is the output from mkii. I join two small PDF files obtained with the typesetting of the following minimal example: %%% begin test-Vert.tex \let\|=\Vert \starttext Look at the differences between mkii output and that with mkiv: \startformula \left\Vert\int_0^1 G(\cdot,s)ds\right \|_{L^q} \lesssim \|G\|_{L^p}. \stopformula \stoptext %%% end test-Vert.tex Is there a way to redefine locally \Vert (or \|) so that in mkiv one gets the same output as with mkii? \date format according to ISO 8601

Hi, in my opinion it makes sense to display the date in ISO 8601 format. now: \date results in: January 31, 2011 ISO 8601: \date would result in: 2011–01–31 In case Hans does not like this idea, is it possible to change it to make ISO 8601 the default. Something like \setupdate [format={year, –, mm, –, day}] Regards Marco

Hi, I uploaded a beta. Tho most important change is that mkii and mkiv are now completely separated, only a couple of modules and styles are shared. Another change is that language related information is now organized differently. Labels and such are in lang-txt.lua and easier to maintain. For those writing pretty printers: pluggable code is now under xxxx-imp-* i.e. the imp subnamespace. I have considered -base, -user etc but that would lead to too much testing. Users can put their extensions (when part of third party modules) under for instance buff-imp-t-<somename> which is unique enough. Anyway, by using an additional -imp- we have less change of clashing with core modules. Some more will probably follow. Hopefully all files are in the zip. TTF fonts and MKIV

Is there a short, simple guide somewhere that shows how to use TTF and OTF fonts in Context? prevent gobbling of spaces when omitting optional argument

Hi, please consider the following minimal example: \def\before{\dodoubleempty\dobefore}% \def\dobefore[#1][#2]{before} \starttext \before[] after (should be: \before[]\ after without explicit \type{\ })\par \before[]after\par \before[][] after\par % this works \before[][]after\par \stoptext How can I prevent gobbling the following space, when the second optional argument is not given (i.e. first line). The macro itself should not insert space if the command is followed by any other character (2nd and 4th line). Thanks, Florian

showing and hiding layers

I am trying to create a layer to contain letterhead graphics. I would like the letterhead to appear by default when a pdf is opened and printed. But I would also like to be able to hide the letterhead layer in Acrobat when printing on pre-printed paper. My simplistic, always-displayed letterhead looks like: %%% start code %%% \definelayer[letterhead] [x=0in,y=0in,width=\paperwidth,height=\paperheight,state=start] \setlayer[letterhead] [hoffset=1in,voffset=0.5in] {LetterHeadMark} \setupbackgrounds[page][background={letterhead}] \starttext Hello, World! \stoptext %%% stop code %%% But there is no obvious way to turn this off when printing. Contextgarden suggests using \defineproperty to create a pdf layer. I can show and hide this layer in acrobat, but it always opens up hidden. I am also not sure how to place the letterhead exactly on the page using this method. Any suggestions?

Too many column gaps in TABLE

Hi list, please consider the appended example. I get a gap in the first row after the first column because of the \setupTABLE command. However, I also get a gap after the second column, because in the second row the first cell just ended. Can this be considered a bug? (Mk IV) If it's not a bug, how can I change this behavior? I only want to have one gap right after the first cell in the first row and no other gaps between the columns (so the second row shall have no gap at all). Do I have to insert a dummy column with "width=1em" after the first cell and change "nc=2" to "nc=3"? Thanks in advance! startMPgraphic?

I just started the conversion of my presentation sheets to ConTeXt mkIV. As could be expected, some inconsistencies will turn up. However this one escapes me. What I am missing that \startMPgraphic results in ! Undefined control sequence. I thought that installing the minimals of ConTeXt-beta also installed the metafun module. Or has this one macro been deprecated? Hans van der Meer
