XML processing not understood

Starting the typesetting in mkiv of xml data I cannot get a simple example working. I studied both the recent MyWay document and Hans Hagens xml-mkiv reference manual (especially page 11). including xml files

Hi all, what is the recommended way of including an xml tree from one file in another? Right now I'm stuck with the following \startxmlsetups xml:inc \xmlprocessfile{inc}{\xmlatt{#1}{file}}{} \stopxmlsetups combined with <inc file="inc.xml"/> in the xml source. But although the content of inc.xml is processed the headings it contains don't show up in the toc (there _is_ an entry for them and a page reference as well but no title). Personally, I'd prefer some include method like file entities (<!ENTITY inc SYSTEM "inc.xml">) but they don't seem to work. Thank you. I had never heard of "luatex/mkiv format" before---I have just been trying to follow the four or five conflicting pages about installation that I found at Context Garden. I did a Google search there for "luatex format", which does not occur, and for "mkiv format", which occurs once, under a heading about updating existing installations. It says: * For making MKIV format luatools --selfupdate mtxrun --selfupdate luatools --generate context --make I tried these commands and, indeed they ran. I also changed my command line to: context --interface=en --language=en test.tex I had been trying to follow the example on the Context Garden page, which contained the incorrect command and flags you saw. Now when I run context, I get less promising output than before: MTXrun | run 1: luatex --fmt="C:contextminimal/tex/texmf-cache/luatex-cache/context/d1d2ccfb3346ff481f4c4dab022cb26d/fomats/cont-en" --lua="C:contextminimal/tex/texmf-cache/luatex-cache/context/d1d2ccfb3346ff481f4c4dab022cb26d/fomats/cont-en.lui" --backen MTXrun | fatal error: no return code, message: luatex: No such file or directory

MetaPost + format("%g",n)

This code compiles fine with plain MetaPost. input graph; beginfig(0); draw begingraph(1in,1in); setrange((0,0),(1,1)); for n=auto.x: show format("%g",n); endfor; endgraph; endfig; end However, this "ConTeXt translated" version errors in MKIV \usemodule[graph] \ctxlua{metapost.showlog=true} \startMPpage draw begingraph(1in,1in); setrange((0,0),(1,1)); for n=auto.x: show format("%g",n); endfor; endgraph; \stopMPpage See foo.log (attached). not understanding ConTeXt-XML

I guess I am a bit stupid, but I do not understand how to process xml in ConTeXt. I started working through the contextXML-example.pdf from the Pragma site. What is in this respect the function of macros like \defineXMLenvironment, etc? From the example document I cannot infer the relation between these and the <xsl:template>-definitions. I finally got Context to install (correctly, I think), and I'm trying to set up a profile for it in TeXnicCenter. Margin terminology -- badly documented, undocumented, or misdocumented

Hi all. I am trying to understand the terminology for the \definelayout and \setuplayout commands. Unfortunately the documentation at http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Layoutdoesn't correspond to the actual output I get. Nor does the 'documentation' at http://getfo.org/context_xml/page3.html , which the first page recommends. More, the two pages seem pretty contradictory. Consider my situation: I'm trying to set up an A4 page with the following margins (I use the term margin to mean the space from the edge of the physical paper to the edge of the body text area): top: 2.97cm bottom: 2.97cm left: 2.1cm right: 2.1cm For the moment, I don't care at all about header and footer space, nor notes in the margins; I'm just trying to get the above margins. However, with all conceivable combinations of commands at both of those pages, I've been unable to set anything like this up. Based on the getfo.org page, I should be able to set up these left and right margins with: backspace=2.1cm, cutspace=2.1cm But, looking at the result, and also with using \showlayout (which for some reason, AFAICS, generates four identical pages at the beginning of the document), this quite obviously doesn't do what getfo.org claims. I have also tried setting everything to 0cm with the exception of any random one of the measurements that go into making a margin, which I would set to 2.1cm. No avail here, either. Can someone give me the configuration I would need for the above required margins? Even better, can someone give me the definitive definitions of all the terms used in http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Layout, algebraically rather than as ambiguous tables of "Remarks"?
