I was working on a document in which I wanted use a symbol that, acording to the Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List, goes by the name of \Asterisk or \bigast (see p. 22). I saw, though, that this seems to be missing in ConTeXt. Might it be tucked away in some module, or is it just absent? If it's really not there, what would it take to add it? (Two different problems, I guess.) (I use XeTeX with latest ConTeXt) For I must send my book to the printer, I fixed it with inserting "\ ". But I'd appreciate a real solution. fonts (in luatex) (again)

Following Wolfgang's advice (thanks) I have followed the delicious thread. So I have 1. downloaded the fonts and installed automatically via macosx Fontbook app (they are available in my system) 2. Hi all, I played some more with the new mkiv xml mechanism and am beginning to see the light: some things that turned out to be very difficult (at least for me) with the "old" mechanism are easy now. However, I still have a couple of questions: 1. I have this minimal file test.xml: <document> <itemize> <item> one </item> <item> two </item> <item> three </item> </itemize> </document> and this minimal environment test-style.tex: \startxmlsetups xml:mysetups \xmlsetsetup{\xmldocument}{document|itemize|item}{xml:*} \stopxmlsetups \xmlregistersetup{xml:mysetups} \startxmlsetups xml:document \xmlflush{#1} \stopxmlsetups \startxmlsetups xml:itemize \startitemize \xmlflush{#1} \stopitemize \stopxmlsetups \startxmlsetups xml:item \item \xmlflush{#1} \stopxmlsetups \starttext \xmlprocess{main}{\inputfilename}{} \stoptext When I run texexec --lua --env=test-style test.xml, I get output only for item "three," not for one and two. What am I doing wrong? 2. In every run, I get this warning: TeXUtil | check loading of file 'test-style', begin/end problem I don't see anything wrong with my files, though. Is this harmless? 3. I have a structure like this to get numbered labels: <lemmasection> <label>1234</label> <content> blahblah </content> </lemmasection> When I process this, I get unwanted spaces in my pdf; they disappear when I delete the newline and space between <content> and blahblah. Hello, I suggested to the author of the very feature rich LaTeX-Listings package, Carsten Heinz, to port this package to ConTeXt, and it seems, that he is interested. But before doing it, there are some questions: * What do Hans and other people thing about that? * listings.sty uses keyval.sty, how is the proper ConTeXt-way to do the same things as keyval, or should listings stay with keyval? A \part command for ConTeXt

Hello, In latex, there is the \part command. If my memory is good, this command is available only in the book class (and maybe report). Is there an equivalent command in ConTeXt ? Thank you. Jack

LuaTeX problems

ConTeXt minimals is up and running but I have problems with LuaTeX. First the files I assume to be important: % Project \startproject atkmom \environment environ \product book \stopproject % Product \startproduct book \project atkmom \component images \startfrontmatter \environment fmatter \completecontent \stopfrontmatter \startbodymatter \environment body \component intro \component osbasics \component files \component opera \stopbodymatter \startbackmatter \completeindex[title=Hakemisto] \stopbackmatter \stopproduct With "texexec" my project results in proper .pdf file except the additional empty page at the end of it. With "context" the process ends after line "\product book" (I get a proper notice about the end of product book) in project file and i get the "*" prompt. It seems like LuaTeX can't see the "\stopproject" at all and thinks that the file has unexpectedly ended. Also with context I get messages that every \at, \in and \about that refers to something in component other than the one they're in is an unknown reference. They all work fine with texexec. Any idea what's wrong?

ConTeXt, Framemaker, and InDesign

Dear gang, There has been some discussion on the list lately comparing ConTeXt with InDesign. Are there any Framemaker users on the list? I'm interested in comparisons between ConTeXt and Framemaker, with cross-comparisons with InDesign as appropriate. What does ConTeXt have that Framemaker does not? What does Framemaker have that ConTeXt does not? (svg integration comes to mind -- there's been some svg discussion here the last couple of days). From what I know of Framemaker -- structured processing etc, it seems that would be a more a~propos comparison with ConTeXt than InDesign. Eventually I would like to establish a wiki page with detailed and accurate comparisons between ConTeXt, InDesign, Framemaker, and perhaps other DTP applications as well. I even plan to get my hands on the "competition" so I can get more 1st hands knowledge for my own edification. nbsp U+00A0 don’t work

Hello, As you can see in my signature, I had remap my french keyboard layout according to dvorak rules. I have the nbsp (U+00A0) on Shift+Space because we use it a lot in french (all the symbols who needs it are on Shift too). I discover today that context don't seem to recognise it : I found a « ; » alone at the beginning of a line. Context deal with the nbsp when it's the « ~ », but with the U+00A0, not. The symbol is here, my vim highlight it. I tried with and without \setcharacterspacing [frenchpunctuation] with no effect. I use context --version : MtxRun | main context file: /usr/share/texmf/tex/context/base/context.tex MtxRun | current version: 2008.06.11 22:25 Speaking about french punctuation, I remember that Arthur Reutenauer speaks about rules he wrote for frenchpunctuation, can we make a wiki page with all that rules ?
