Indention problem after formula

Hi all, how does one get an indention after a formula? The last paragraph shall be indented, but it is not. Any idea? Bibliographic Databases

Dear all, I want to set up a shared bibliographic reference database for my research group, and I'm looking at software like refbase http:// refbase.sourceforge.net/ or refdb http://refdb.sourceforge.net/ to replace the somewhat random collection of personal BibTeX .bib files we have. Does anyone have any experience or advice to offer in using such things, and hooking them up to ConTeXt? Most of these systems will of course emit a .bib file which will obviously work, but will any emit the .bbl so I can forget about BibTeX? Will luatex one day connect to a bib database and fetch the details of a cited reference? Is there a ConTeXt "approved" way forward for this sort of thing? Thanks in advance, Robin

maybe OT? ConTeXt on an EEEPC

Dear all, maybe this is off-topic, but I just wanted to tell you about my experiences (and sorry if this sounds like a sales pitch, it isn't!). Since I have a fairly long commute to work, I spend a lot of time on the train and like/need to do serious work there. When you have to schlepp it almost every day, a normal laptop seems pretty heavy after a while, that's why I got me one of those eeepc thingies. Its tiny screen and small keyboard scream "I'm just a mobile device, not a replacement for a real computer," and it's not the fastest machine around. However, my joy is great whenever I stuff the little thing in my bag and lift it. I got the 8GB variant. To do work, I always want all my documents with me (so I can easily sync my entire Documents directory between work, home, and laptop) and, of course, my TeX installation. My texlive- texmf tree now is 1.6 G, so I needed a bit more space than the 4G model offers (models with larger screens and hard disks will be available soonish). It has a SDHC card reader, so I copied my Documents and the TeX installation to the internal disk (a SSD) and have my linux installation on a card from which I boot. With a shell script, I set the $PATH so I can mount the internal disk and run ConTeXt off of it. Everything works wonderfully. As I said, it's a slow machine, so you don't want to compile very long documents too often, but it does run every flavor of ConTeXt. I often prepare my presentations on the train, and this works great: I have the environment to which I'm used for editing the source files (emacs + ConTeXt) and a pdf viewer open in another workspace. This setup is one of the reasons why I prefer a texlive installation to a minimal ConTeXt tree: that way, I have to maintain it only once and can sync it between my computers. So whoever has to travel a lot: I find it wonderful to have such a small and light computer on the road. All best, have a nice weekend Thomas

Thanks George. EndNote is I believe the corporately-approved solution here, and similar disasters occur when people try and share its data files. For this reason I don't call these sorts of personal-level programs "databases" (any more than I'll call a .bib file a database). The TeX folk don't fare much better. Multiple personal .bib files are common, often with duplicate references but different citation keys, leading to rather variable results depending on who run LaTeX/ConTeXt on the file. Inconsistency in data entry is also a problem, although for us, accents and quotes don't seem to too big a problem. (`Authorless', i.e., corporate author documents, like data sheets, seems to be more of an issue). For this reason I'm looking for a proper SQL database solution like refdb or refbase (or maybe wikindx, thanks Andreas) with a web front- end that will hopefully enforce somewhat more consistent data entry, and maybe even auto-generate citation keys. Taco, your remarks regarding interchange formats are valuable (both refdb and refbase support MODS XML output). Robin

new options for \setupinteractionscreen

Dear ConTeXters, for PDF document one can set /PageLayout. It is a mode in which reader shows us pages (Single, Continous, Facing, ...). in ConTeXt one can set \setupinteractionscreen[option=doublesided] which set layout /TwoColumnRight (understand two facing continuous pages with odd pages on the right side). Since PDF 1.5 there is a possibility to set 3 more layouts: /TwoColumnLeft /TwoPageRight /TwoPageLeft I poropose to incorporate next lines of code to sources to enable setting of these layouts % double=facing, column=continuous, right|left=where odd page \setupinteractionscreen[ option=doublecolumnleft, option=doublepageright, option=doublepageleft, option=doublecolumnright, % for compatibility = doublesided option=doublecolumn, % for simplicity = doublecolumnright option=doublepage, % for simplicity = doublepageright ] These names are derrived from curren naming convention (doublesided) and PDF names. Hi, this doesn't work any more (mkii and mkiv). Same error on live.contextgarden. LaTeX maths with array...

Hi, I am preparing an e-journal for astro and I have many articles with lots of equations. Unfortunately, authors are using LaTeX maths and this is giving me trouble. I have read and followed the steps of http://wiki.contextgarden.net/LaTeX_Math_in_ConTeXt and http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Math_with_newmat and it has helped me a lot but there's a snag I run all the time in: array Typically, the equation giving troubles is of the kind: \begin{equation} \begin{array}{rl} h & \sim \mu M^{2/3}f^{2/3}/r\\ & \sim M_{ch}^{5/3}f^{2/3}/r\\ \end{array} \end{equation} when I try to compile, I get ! Misplaced alignment tab character &. l.484 h& \sim \mu M^{2/3}f^{2/3}/r\\ Of course, when I use \startformula\eqalign{ h & \sim \mu M^{2/3}f^{2/3}/r \cr & \sim M_{ch}^{5/3}f^{2/3}/r \cr }\stopformula everything runs smoothly but I cannot convert all equations containing a {array}{rl} or similar, because I would never end... I guess that writing a script to convert them in eqlign would be feasible, but it's a very... precarious way... I would prefer to fix the problem from ConTeXt itself... how?? thanks, Pau

The only file in my tex tree which could play that roule is cont-en-mpost.mem in the cache \tex\texmf-cache\luatex- cache\context\c80dc1fd5292ec817c6e82c295beaf1e\formats this file causes from a metapost:process run and is not overwritten by my example. Hello, List! Follownig your recommendations while playing with fonts, I've started to write one. It's actually very basic but I already have a few questions. What I do not catch is the \starttypescript line. Is it right to say that the second parameter is the name of the 'class' to which the definitions that follow are linked? Second question on that part: Is the first argument (serif) a reserved keyword or not? What's the point of that argument? Third and last question for that part, in the case, as in here, where the font file names are easy to remember, is it still needed to create that synonyms for any reason? Here are my questions: I've seen in the sources that there were 7 predefined types in the Serif family: Serif, SerifBold, SerifItalic, SerifSlanted, SerifBoldItalic and SerifBoldSlanted. What if I have a font that not only have a Bold face but also a Medium face and a SemiBold face? Second question: my font do not have a slanted face and I do not want to have pieces of computer modern in the text because, by mistake, I typed an \sl switch or something related. To avoid that, you can see I declared SerifSlanted to be a synonym for SerifItalic. Is it the way to do that or is it better to directly define SerifSlanted as a synonym to GaramondPP-Italic (in my case)? And for the last part of my little type script: \starttypescript [GaramondPP] \definetypeface [GaramondPP][rm][serif][garamondpp][default] \stoptypescript That part is for me a beautiful piece of ununderstanding :) First question: the first argument is the name we will use with the \usetypescript command. Right? Second question: the first argument of the \definetypescript is the name that will be used with the \setupbodyfont call. Is it right? Isn't there any conflict with the GaramondPP of the \starttypescript and the one of the \definetypeface? Or do they need to be the same? Other question: how are related the three following parameters (rm, serif and garamondpp)? And finally, what's the point of the 'default' argument? I'm aware that's a huge load of questions. Nothing is urgent but every replies are welcome, and that will allow me to help others. More questions will certainly occurs later (certainly related to sizes) but at first I'll try to better understand all what is above. Thanks a lot for everything! A+ -AJ
