texlive-rpm on linux-x86_64

Hello, if you install the texlive-rpm from http://pmrb.free.fr/texlive/ on linux-x86_64, you should execute something like the following commands after installation: wget -O- http://foundry.supelec.fr/frs/download.php/513/luatex-beta-0.10.2-linux-i58… | tar -xjf- -C/tmp cat /tmp/luatex >`which luatex` updateConTeXt.sh Cheers, Peter -- http://pmrb.free.fr/contact/

luatools error message

On "luatools --generate" I get this error message: luac: ...bdbf68d574f1472c0c2a0dcccac69/trees/ 8380572d1d594c806eb224cb2d00c228.tma:20: unfinished string near ''Icon' This could be caused by the fact that my system (Macintosh OSX) here and there files with the name Icon? (the ? is part of the name) are sprinkled. I suspect the unfinished string is triggered by the trailing questionmark Is it harmful? Can this be prevented, acting on the maxim: "silence the compiler"? running luatex?

After some hassles (no problem with me, to be expected from something new as luatexbeta) I finally got as far as: compiling and installing luatex, luatools and friends. setting up shell variables. doing "texexec --make --all --luatex" Alas, mag12 tells about installing luatex, it does not tell me how to run things. I thought that "luatex --fmt=cont-en luatest1.tex" would work, but it gives me: This is luaTeX, Version 3.141592-beta-0.10.2-2007081511 (Web2C 7.5.6) I can't find the format file `cont-en.fmt'! Now doing "luatools --ini --compile cont-en" tells me "Beginning to dump on file cont-en.fmt (format=cont-en 2007.8.15)" but even then I get: 126 ~/temp/luatex: luatex --fmt=cont-en luatest1.tex This is luaTeX, Version 3.141592-beta-0.10.2-2007081511 (Web2C 7.5.6) I can't find the format file `cont-en.fmt'! And no better with: 127 ~/temp/luatex: luatex --fmt=cont-en.fmt luatest1.tex I did the example "luatools lmr12.afm" and it gave neatly "/usr/local/ texlive/2007/texmf-dist/fonts/afm/public/lm/lmr12.afm" but if I do "luatools cont-en.fmt" it just returns an empty message. How do I proceed? What am I missing here? Hans van der Meer

Hi, Currently most mails on the list about mkiv and luatex concern installation and fonts. This is ok since quite some code is related to that. The next couple of months other (sub)systems will be activated (or discovered by users since quite some stuff is already there). - reading from other media: reading from zip files is possible, reading from e.g. http also if you have curl installed - color support: mkiv will use attributes; this works already on my machine; other features (outline) and such will follow this route - spacing, vertical as well as horizontal (inter character spacing, french punctuation), it's there but needs integration - indexing: is already using lua, needs to be tested and we need tables for languages - numbering lines etc: work in progress - verbatim: new pretty printers will show up (i expect users to step in once we have the api ready) - synchronization of text streams, multiple text streams etc ... work in progress - sectioning and list handling, needs some rework for mkii too - debugging and error handling: there (try \showdebuginfo \page or maybe \overloaderror \crap); we need a way to refresh browser windows automatically - runtime feature toggling and font extensions: work in progress - etc etc maybe we should set up a wiki page where users can make a wishlist for fundamental features cq. exploring features under construction Hans ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl -----------------------------------------------------------------

Crop marks fonts

Handling Docbook files

I am trying to run a bunch of docbook files related to Krita. The convention in these files seems to be to prefix subordinate file names with an & character. If I run e.g, texexec index.docbook it blows up on the first such ampersand. I can of course edit all the files to replace & with \& but I wonder if there is a better strategy? I also tried the various "docbook2xxx" style utilities but they all failed to produce meaningful results. All I want to do is read the #$% files! PDF TrimBox

Hi, I'm trying to set the PDF TrimBox for every page in the document. \setupinteractionscreen[trimbox={[81.6378 96.9449 513.6378 744.9449]}] This indeed sets the TrimBox for every page, but it ignores my dimensions, and sets them to the page size. \pdfpageattr{/TrimBox [ 81.6378 96.9449 513.6378 744.9449]} Only applies to the first page, and \pdfpagesattr uses an inheritance that Acrobat doesn't understand (is it allowed?). How can I specify the TrimBox on every page? thanks, Thomas

trouble generating mkiv format

On generating the format with "luatools --ini --compile --verbose cont-en" I got this error: ! TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [pool size=93529]. It seems that the setting of TEXMFCNF given in mag12 (/tex/texmf- local/web2c) was insufficient for getting the setup parameters for TeX format generation. For my texlive setup I translated the mag12 entry into: TEXMFCNF="{/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c,/usr/local/texlive/ 2007/texmf/web2c}" But at least I needed: TEXMFCNF="{/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c,/usr/local/texlive/ 2007/texmf/web2c}" I hope others may profit from this observation. By the way, the following seems very strange as luatools tells me: LuaTools | loading /usr/local/texlive/2007/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf LuaTools | skipping /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c/texmf.cnf The name of the file in the context distribution however is "/usr/ local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c/context.cnf" but it is not searched for! COULD THIS BE A MISNOMER, either in a script or in the file name? Hans van der Meer
