\setupfootnotes[split=?] query

No luck last time, so I will send this out once more: Currently I have \setupfootnotes[split=verystrict] and I am still getting one footnote call that occurs on the last line of page n where the note itself appears on page n+1. Is there a way to prevent this by assigning split= a number? If so, what numerical value will work? Or is there another setting? Thanks for any help. Cheers, Alan

Font question mfonts.pdf manual

Hi, I am reading the mfonts.pdf manual to understand more about Context font mechanism. In section 10 Math collection, Hans writes "Math is a complicated matter and therefore we will not spend that many words on the gory details .. ..... More information can be found in the documentation of the math module" First question is : Why do you not spend more words on this subject ? I suppose a lot of Latex users are possibly interested in using Context for their math typesetting but not knowing all the gory details, will complicate matters and hinder a possible conversion from Latex to Context. Second question is : where can I find the documentation of the math module ? Is it in PDF or do I need to consult math-ini.tex ? Kind regards Wim Neimeijer

I have heard a bit of talk about 'if the manual is updated' or some such like that. I was going to have the manual printed in a book so I have a hardcopy. Is the manual still current and relevant that it would be worth it? - Jeff

PDF links behaviour

In the PDF documents, when I click on an cross-reference link (it can be a page number from the table of content, or anything done with \in[]) I jump to the related page (that's ok) but the document view is automatically changed to 'Fit in Window' whatever the view initially was (e.g. 'Fit Width'). Is it possible to change this behaviour? I would like to have the same behaviour than with latex, that is, the document view doesn't change when clicking on a link. I guess it's possible to achieve this with ConTeXt, but I haven't found any information about configuring this. Regards, BG

table-caption: centred or not??

Hello, how are the rules, that determine if the caption is centred? Here my test-case, "ok" means: this is how I like it and "not ok" means, I don't like it: \setupcaptions[width=\makeupwidth] \def\MyTable#1{\placetable{\dorecurse{#1}{bla }}{\starttable[|c|] \NC This is a table.\NC\AR\stoptable}} \starttext \MyTable{2} % ok \MyTable{10} % not ok \MyTable{30} % ok \setupcaptions[align=middle] \MyTable{2} % ok \MyTable{10} % ok \MyTable{30} % not ok \stoptext What should I do, to get 3 times "ok" ? Context Garden

Is there any downloadable copy of the Context Garden site that is not on the Context Garden website? At my school unfortunately we don't seem to be able to get through to context garden wiki. But trying to get into ConTeXt would likely be much smoother with access to the information. Any help is appreciated. Jeff

Dalyoung, This is much more a ConTeXt issue than a XeTeX issue. I *think* it comes up with XeConTeXt because the CJK font has (relatively) wider roman characters than with roman fonts. Anyway, here are two different approaches. externalfigure and width/height scaling

Hello, I am new to ConTeXt, so please be patient with my newbie questions. Looking at the \externalfigure capabilities, I haven't found any option allowing to scale only one dimension (or scale both dimensions in an anamorphous way). Am I right, and if so what is the best method to perform this? I thought about using the \getfiguredimensions macro to get the natural dimensions, and then use something like width=0.2\imgwidth,height=0.8\imgheight, but it is a pity that the externalfigure interface does not allow this directly (something like wscale and hscale options). startalignment

I do not understand this behaviour of startalignment [middle]...stopalignment versus midaligned. According to the manual the contents should be centered in the middle. Although text is centered, a combinations is not centered but stays at the leftmargin. Is there something I do not understand or is the behaviour of the startaligment environment erroneous?
