Why doesn't this margin= have an effect?

I am trying to get the itemized lists to be indented the same amount as my paragraph first lines (small). I have been trying to get this by adding margin=dimension but whatever dimension I put there, the result is the same: nothing. Example: \startitemize[n,packed,joinedup][margin=-1em] \item All X are Y; \item All Y are Z; \item Therefore, all X are Z. \stopitemize What am I doing wrong? G

Document structure - some questions

Hello! I have quite a few questions about ConTeXt (and more coming, I guess!). As a newbie, many things seem difficult for me. For now, the questions are: How does \part exactly work? I could see: messing with pagenumbers; part title not appearing; strange behaviour in eg backmatter... How do exactly front, body, back matter and appendices environments work? How do the system modes (*...-modes) work exactly? I managed to make \startmode[*interaction] ... \stopmode work, but what about the others "starred" modes? What are the possible parameters for the \setupoutput command? Sorry for asking so many things... I hope that when I know the answers I will be able to put some articles on ConTeXt wiki, so that other people do not bother you with the same questions again and again. Greetings -- Marcin Borkowski

I tried to get one piece in a justified text to behave as follows: right aligned and with a jagged left edge. But what I tried influenced my entire document. Can someone explain me how to do this? G

some bib module questions

Folks, I am new beginner and have some rookie questions about using the bib module. 1. \setupcite[number][left=[, right=]] did not work. the citation still shows up in the text like (author, year) 2. either \completepublications or \placepublications wont show the publication list at the end of the paper without using \setup[pubs][criterium=all]. 3. \setuppublications[numbering=yes] fails to put a number before the publication list at the end of the paper. I got the most updated m-bib.zip from http://texaanhet.net/bib/ and copied those file to my local hard drive at ...\texmf\tex\context\m-bib\. Also I just updated my context to the new released version. By the way, I use pc and WinEdt. I probably made several mistakes. please help. thanks a lot. best, fei

Float numbering problem

Hi, since my Google search didn't bring up any solutions to this problem, I assume that this has not been reported yet. I'm trying to typeset a poster with more than one column and it occasionally happens that a large float (like a figure) precedes a small float (like a table). If the current column has so little remaining vertical space that only figure 2 would fit in, it includes them in reversed order. Which is not bad in principle, but unfortunately the floats also exchange their number. I included a minimal example with three tables and only one figure. The figure's caption reads "figure 3" while the last table is called "table 1". I am using gwTeX with beta ConTeXt (2005/03/03). All other important information can probably be obtained from the included log files. Best regards, Sebastian Sturm

How do I setup this arrangement?

I want to use \setuparranging, \setuplayout and \setuppapersize to do the following: 1. Page size is somewhere between A5 and A4 (large paperback book) 2. In draft mode: - Output pages are magnified (<1 factor) to a A5 size - Two pages on one A4 landscape - Ordering simple: (0,1),(2,3),(4,5) (2 shrunk-to-A5 pages on one A4 landscape) 3. In final mode - Output pages are centered on an A4 paper with crop marks I have tried to find information, but the orderings of \setuparranging do not include this simple ordering. G

Renaming spot colours

More questions! I'm using black plus one spot colour in a document, and I include PDF images generated in an external program (CorelDraw) which use the same spot colour. In the images the color is called 'PANTONE 294 CV', but I can't use that name for my colour in ConTeXT because names can't contain numbers or spaces. So in ConTeXt I define \definecolor[PantoneTwoNineFour][c=1,m=.56,y=0,k=.18] The end result is a file with two spot colour spaces instead of one. Is there a way I can combine them, either by a last-minute renaming, or a mapping, or a pre-process, or something? (I tried the brute force method of search-and-replace on the PDF file but there must be binary-encoded references to the names as well as ASCII ones, because that broke the file.) Any help as ever greatly appreciated. Duncan
