URW Garamond No8 under LPPL

Hello, Walter Schmidt has uploaded to CTAN | (1) the PostScript font family Garamond No8, which URW | has made available for free under the Aladdin Free Public | License, see <http://www.artifex.com/downloads/>. | | (2) font metrics, macros etc. to use the fonts with LaTeX; | this is material which I have added; it is released under | LPPL. The font presentation can be found at http://www.urwpp.de/ Search for "Garamond". Garamond No8 consists of regular, medium, italic and medium italic. It is an OpenType Level 1 font and contains the character sets West, East, Turkish, Baltic and Romanian CTAN: nonfree/fonts/urw/garamond e.g. ftp://ftp.dante.de/pub/tex/nonfree/fonts/urw/garamond/ Regards, Tobias PS: Information taken from CTAN announce.

In updating my context documentation today, I managed to overwrite my copy of ".../general/manuals/style.pdf", which I was studying. Is this document still available, perhaps renamed - it don't find it in the list of files in http://www.pragma-ade.nl/wget.txt. Thank-you --

I'm following the "Install ConTeXt" instructions on <http://levana.de/context/>. I'm installing this on a Debian Testing machine. I've downloaded and installed version 2005.01.31. Hallo Patrick, I added one third (only one third but most important one since analogy;-) of \setuplayout command to tewshow-web. To be more descriptive I snaffled table of page areas from wiki. Unfortunately comment field seems not to be html sensitive (see http://texshow.contextgarden.net/ts.rb?lang=en&what=desc&if=en&cmd=setuplay…) ... Is there some chance to display the table here or it is better to refer to the wiki page (http://contextgarden.net/Layout)? Vit Zyka

Czech compound word handling

Hello, would it be possible to define || for compound words to act as \discretionary{-}{-}{-}? In Czech, the hyphen for compound words should be repeated in the following line. How to use and not embed the PdfBase14 fonts?

Hi all! I want to generate PDF documents that use the standard PDF fonts (Helvetica, Times-Roman, and Courier) and not to embed these fonts. With my former installation (TexLive-2003 and a ConText distribution of last autumn) this was possible by using the following lines in the praeambel: \usetypescript[adobekb][texnansi] \usetypescript[postscript][texnansi] \setupbodyfont[postscript,ss,13pt] (In addition, I had to configure pdfTeX by "updmap --setoption pdftexDownloadBase14 false"). After I upgraded to TexLive-2004 this does no longer work! I found that the typescript "adobekb" was replaced by "type-akb". Yet, the encoding "texnansi" seems no longer to be available (Metafont complains that it can not find: texnansi-utmr8a). Changing the encoding to "ec" that still is available yields: \usetypescript[type-akb][ec] \usetypescript[postscript][ec] \setupbodyfont[postscript,ss,13pt] Yet, using these lines in the praeambel results in a document that uses the NimbusSanL-Regu font, that clearly has to be embedded. Does anyone know how the standard PDF fonts can be used while not being embedded? Thanks for your attention, Stefan

hyphenation mess

Hi, When generating new minimal trees, i found out that the us patterns are now again in hyphen.tex and the uk patterns also got a new name. It is a that the naming of pattern files is a mess, and that some pattern files are not in the right spot, and things are not improving. The fact that this is solved with the fuzzy aliasses mechanism in web2c does not help, since this is implementation dependent and makes the texmf tree not sharable. I'll try to catch the new names in the next version, and in the meantime start wondering if it makes sense to add consistently names and structured hyphenation files to the context distribution. Taco, Thanks so much for the help. Seems MikTex hasnot updated the context package yet. So, I just download the m-bib.zip from your web again with 08/30/04 version. It works again..wow... it is great!
