marking, headers and 2 columns

Dear readers of this list, I would like to typeset a bible-text with ConTeXt. The header should print the first and the last verse on that particular page. I used the commands \marking to mark the verses and \getmarking to setup the headers as shown in the excerpt below. This works correctly with a single column layout, but not in a two column layout. The last verse printed in the headers is not the correct one, the first or the second on the following page is given. Is there a work around for this problem? texexec and TEX

Good evening. Is there some restriction to Metapost macros when compiled by texexec --mptex? I'd like to compile a file like this: % test input TEX; beginfig(1) z1=(0,1cm); z2=(3cm,1cm); dotlabel.top(btex $z_1$ etex,z1); dotlabel.top(btex $z_2$ etex,z2); draw TEX("$\underbrace{\hbox to "&decimal(xpart(z2)-xpart(z1))&"pt{\hss}}$") shifted z1; endfig; end. But I've got a following error: This is MetaPost, Version 0.641 (Web2C 7.3.1) (TEXuse.mp (/usr/share/texmf/metapost/base/TEX.mp) (mptextmp.mp >> mptextmp.mp >> mptextmp.mpx ! Unable to make mpx file. l.1 btex $\underbrace{\hbox to 85.03935pt{\hss}}$ etex Transcript written on TEXuse.log. error in metapost run : TEXuse.mp:1 What's wrong? How can I improve it? Font/UTF-8 input question

Hello, I'd like to use a Unicode font such as Linux Libertine [1]. Besides things which should happen "automatically" like ligatures, I want to enter all characters directly in the UTF-8 file (including those wierd characters). I remember that there is some UTF-8 support in ConTeXt, but I don't remember the details. Is it possible to simply enter a character such as U+FB02 or do I have first to adapt both the input encoding and the font encoding files? It contains ~412 characters, including those required by MES-1 (Multilinual European Subset <http://www.evertype.com/standards/iso10646/pdf/cwa13873.pdf> No. 1 [2]) and is available in normal and italic (unfortunally no bold or small caps, yet). Note that this font still requires some polishing, but the nice thing is that the author reacts rather fast to feature requests (though I probably redeemed all my free vouchers for a few IPA characters ;). Table of Contents spacing.

I want the Table of Contenst entries at normal (single) spacing but they are occurring with white space between the lines. Here is my code to date: \setuplist[chapter][alternative=a,style=bold] \definecombinedlist[content][chapter,section] [level=chapter,criterium=all,before=,after=\null] \setupcombinedlist[content][alternative=a] Probably I have one statement too many, or one parameter too many. Superimposing two flowcharts

Hi all, I would like to make a flowchart in which one shape (FLOWcell) is essentially bigger than the other shapes (in fact it should occupy the space for two ordinary shapes). Now I made two flowcharts; one consists of the one bigger shape, while the other consists of the remaining shapes (of which two are invisible because their shape is defined as `node'). My idea is to put one flowchart on top of the other. Is this possible? And if it is, how should I do this? B.t.w. using `offset=overlay' in \setupFLOWcharts gives a syntax error. Sytse Knypstra

Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals

Dear all Has anyone used context to produce articles conforming to Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (http://www.icmje.org/). If so could you share the setup/layout? I am a newbie who has just begun with the manual and the excellent tex.iso uploaded recently by Hans (Thanks, this version works beautifully!). The latex elsart.cls does something similar but I was wondering with the better capabilities of Context someone had used it for submitting to a biomedical journal. kind regards Vivek

We have complete access to a macro's parameter list including allowed values, but I struggle a bit how to make that available in Emacs. Perhaps people here now other packages that solve these problems? Possible bug in texexec

Dan Luecking has reported the following problem on c.t.t.: When mptopdf is used on a .mp file it preprocesses the file and the result (on my system it seems always to be named mptrace.tmp) is run through mpost. This mptrace.tmp has new-lines after every semicolon (;). This causes an error when the semicolon is part of a literal string, because mpost syntax requires such strings to be entirely on one line. I mentioned also texexec, because mptopdf seems to call texexec for some purposes. I know too little perl to even know what to look for, much less propose a patch. This behavior has been confirmed under WinXP (fptex = TeXLive8) and Mac OS X (tetex). This particular problem can affect the latest mfpic (0.7, which I maintain) if a user processes mfpic's .mp output file with mptopdf. Users can work around the bug by modifying their copy of mfpic.tex, changing the line GBmsg "Bad mfpic installation; mfpic and grafbase % to something like GBmsg "Bad mfpic installation: mfpic and grafbase % This change will be provided as patch to mfpic shortly. -- Morten Høgholm

numbers as dropped caps

Dear readers of this list, I would like to use big numbers at the beginning of paragraphs just like droppedcaps. However, if I use the DroppedCaps-macro with numbers, it does not work. See the example below - a letter works, a number not. How can I use numbers like droppedcaps?
