problem using bibtex

Hi--- I've been trying to get an @InProceedings bibtex entry to format. The original entry looked like this: @InProceedings {aapga, author = {Williams, Jeffery and Schaefer, Marv and Landoll, Douglas }, title = {Pretty good assurance}, booktitle = {New Security Paradigms Workshop}, year = {1995}, publisher = {ACM Special Interest Group on Security, Audit, and Control} } When bibtexed, the authors appear in the .bbl file, but they do not appear in the references list. The references list entry begins at "(1995)." If I change the bibtex entry to an Article, as follows, all the information appears in the reference list. @Article{aapga, author = {Williams, Jeffery and Schaefer, Marv and Landoll, Douglas }, title = {Pretty good assurance}, journal = {New Security Paradigms Workshop}, year = {1995}, note = {ACM Special Interest Group on Security, Audit, and Control} } Is there a problem with the InProceedings entry type, or have I done something wrong? ---Dave Bailey

Index sorting

Good morning. I'm sorry that I bother you all once more with the same thing as a half year ago, but I was unsuccessful. So: How works the mechanism that sort items for the index? I have to write down my own sorting system for the Czech language. (Mr. Hagen sent me some files for customizing the ConTeXt for the Czech language, but it didn't include index sorting.) Well, I would appreciate some example, since the task is not so easy. In the Czech for example `a' and `acaron' go under the same item `A', but `acaron' is sorted after `a'. On the other hand, `ccaron' has its own item in the index (under the item for `c'). And to be even more complex, `ch' is one letter in the Czech, having its own item in the index. how to integrate graphics flexibly?

Hi I am thinking about to switch from LaTeX to ConTeXt. The main reason for me is the need of "embedded" graphics (I'm not sure about the technical term typographically. In german it is "eingespiegelte Bilder".) The task could be like: - typesetting a book on art history - 450 pages A4 - 150 pictures included - all pictures should be placed close to the first time they are mentioned in the text - the shouldn't be more than two pictures per page. We will have three possibilities: a) Some pictures are in landscape format - they can be set width to textwidth. b) Others are moderate portrait format - in this case the title/caption can be set next to it (right/left) and both together can be set width to textwidth as well. c) But others are extreme portrait format (maybe height to width four to one). They need to be included into the text (with text floating around at one side). As a) and b) are set either at the top or at the bottom of a page it is necessary that also the graphics of case c) can be set this way. So I need to set figures with the following options: - ability to float - placing option top/bottom of page - placing option left/right respectively inner/outer edge of page - can be set to whole textwidth - can be alternatively included into the text (but floating, not only into the paragraph were they are mentioned)). Which TeX mode (LaTeX/ConTeXt) or which additional package can do this job? Thank you, Steffen Wolfrum Berlin, 25. August 2003

parse trees

Hello: I'm making some notes on English grammar for some students and I want to analyze a few sentences using parse trees. Is there a way to do trees in ConTeXt? I guess I'd need to use Metapost. Any pointers would be appreciated. Best wishes, Matt

TeXExec patch

Hi, I played a bit around with --pdfarrange and found out that I couldn't do: texexec --pdfarrange --paper=a5*a4,landscape --print='2UP,doublesided' file.pdf Since: paper becomes [A5][A4,LANDSCAPE] and /.*2UP.*/ becomes [2UP,doublesided,rotated] and I don't want to have it rotated. The attached patch makes TeXExec a bit more flexiable. Hans, please apply. Tobias

combined list and spacing

Hi, I've defined a combined list as my table of contents as follows: \setuplist[artikel][alternative=c] \definecombinedlist[content][chapter,artikel] \placecontent Now that my document nears 75 pages, the list is too full to go on one page. So I thought I might get rid of the spacing between the next chapter and make the chapters bold instead. Could anyone be so kind and explain to me how I would do this? I've seen \setuplist in the manual but I couldn't figure out where the spacing part was. TIA, Alex

LaTeXDB equivalent for ConTeXt ?

Hi, Is there anything like LaTeXDB: <http://privat.hgesser.com/software/latexdb/> in ConTeXt? The short story is that LaTeXDB makes it possible to include SQL queries in a LaTeX document. Best regards, jules

Changing word spacing of \tt

I'm using the standard POS fonts and I'm otherwise happy with whatever I get (TexLive7), but the word spacing is far too big when I use teletype font (in relation to \ss and \rm fonts). Tight spaces are not an option here, nor do I want to use the \setupspacing switch. Is there any way I can tell ConTeXt to use tighter spacing with \tt and defaul spacing otherwise? Greetings, Mari
