How to get the characters in the attached pdf file using ConTeXt

Dear all, I have sent this email twice already but return messages said that it was too large and would be posted at the discretion of the administrator. I had attached a sample file using only one word from the original .pdf file in the hope that it would be small enough. Obviously not! Apologies if I have broken protocol. This time I have not included an attachment. Apologies again! I could get the proper characters as seen in the attached sample file using LaTeX with the preamble: \usepackage{palatino} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \usepackage[applemac]{inputenc} The result can be seen below. But I would like to achieve this in ConTeXt (not necessarily with Palatino). Can anyone give me advice on the setup commands needed. I have tried various ways but nothing has worked so far. My ConTeXt input file looks like this without any of the setups that I had been trying. I am using Gerben's installation on a Mac G4 OS 10.2.6. Also what command do I need in order to use mac inputencoding in ConTeXt? I think I saw it mentioned in one of the manuals but I cannot find it again. Of course for the \dh and \k in LaTeX I could not use Mac inputencoding. Indent-region

All, I've found Berend's context.el and Patrick's etexshow.el and they look promising. Does anyone know about smart indenting? For example, I entered: \startitemize[n] \item Real Estate Tax The real estate tax is divided into two components. \startitemize[a,packed] \item The ownership tax \item The tenant tax \stopitemize If the real estate has no tenants, then the owner pays both components. \item dog license fee The owner of one or more dogs pays a fee. When a dog has died or been sold, the owner has to inform city hall. \stopitemize Then I tried indent-region (C-M-\) and got this (I hope it indents in email): \startitemize[n] \item Real Estate Tax The real estate tax is divided into two components. \startitemize[a,packed] \item The ownership tax \item The tenant tax \stopitemize If the real estate has no tenants, then the owner pays both components. \item dog license fee The owner of one or more dogs pays a fee. Changing partitions on me

All, After setting up the latest beta of Context, I have the strangest behavior: C:\temp>texexec texexec TeXExec 3.2 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2003 --help overview of all options and their values --help all all about all options --help short just the main options --help mode ... pdf all about a few options --help '*.pdf' all about options containing 'pdf' total run time : 1 seconds F:\Temp> See how I started on my C: partition, but after texexec completes its run, I am on my F: parititon? Weird? Any suggestions?

bodymatter and alternative=doublesided, XML documentation

Hi, I have the following problem: Using \setuppagenumbering[location={footer,right}] \startbodymatter \chapter{Hi} \stopbodymatter I always get 3 pages, but I want to have two: The recto with "Hi" and its verso, I don't want to have an extra recto! Is there a nice way to setup frontmatter to use roman numerals and bodymatter "arabic" numerals starting from 1? I know I can use \setupsectionblock[][before=\bgroup\setup...] but is there something nicer? A part of that document should be in XML, is there any documentation for the ContML available by now? Or about the XML namespacing etc. support, which is not mentioned in "XML in ConTeXT"? Tobias

launch programs from pdf

Marginal notes in two-column setup

Sorry for another newbie question (I am trying to learn ConTeXt and cannot always find what I want in the manual which I have permanently open) I would like to do the following: Have a two column text with the marginal notes from the left column appear on the left and the ones from the right column on the right. When I use 2-columns and I use \inmargin, I get them on the right where the marginal notes from the left column are on top of the right column (not good) Is there a way to do this? Probably yes with something \if-like? G

\setuparranging question

How can I get the following arrangement: 2 A5 pages printed on one landscape A4 page Order: -1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 or in other words, no order which makes it ready for cutting/folding but just two A5 pages per A4 landscape in normal order, the way you would get it when you copy a book on A4 landscape. (Even better would be to have alternate A4 printed pages upside down so you can print doublesided and then bind it so you can flip the document without having to turn the printout.) Thanks, G
