Hi, I have just uploaded luatex 0.40.4 to the foundry server, and have committed the source code to texlive. What's new: * \the\textfont0 returned a number instead of doing a font switch. * The embedded MPlib is now 1.203. The MetaPost team is happy to announce a new release of MetaPost: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MetaPost 1.203 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The standalone distribution package and a win32 binary can be downloaded immediately from http://foundry.supelec.fr/gf/project/metapost/ This release will also be available from CTAN soon, and it will be included in the next TeXLive. The source package should compile normally on all systems that are capable of compiling a modern web2c-based TeX distribution. The win32 binary is intended for texlive or a similar web2c-based installation, this executable will *not* work for miktex. Of course, we welcome any comments (either good or bad) that you may have. Hi, I have just uploaded luatex 0.40.3 to the foundry server, and have committed the source code to texlive. What's new: * A set of portability fixes for the AIX compiler from Vladimir Volovich. * A set of fixes to the synctex support. * A patch to the build script to prevent installed X11 headers from being required. * Some weave (web syntax) fixes from Manuel Pégourié-Gonnard. * A simplification in luatex.ch (it is now less verbose about the web2c-specific extensions) from Karl Berry. * A fix in the handling of UTF-8 (input) file names. * Hyphenation exceptions were case sensitive in 0.40.2. use of \phantombox doesn't match its definition

In trying to install the latest context on my system, I installed texlive 2008, then the 2009.06.04 context, and rebuilt the formats. Using texlive 2008 solved my problems with the Palatino fonts not being found (compared to when I was using the latest context with texlive 2007). However, the following file fails on my laptop, and on the live Context (also 2009.06.04, texlive 2008): \newbox\phantombox \def\lowest#1{\setbox\phantombox=\vbox{\vphantom{$\displaystyle{#1}$}}} \def\support{\copy\phantombox} \starttext \startformula \lowest{Q} \underbrace{\support Q}_{dx} \stopformula \stoptext The error is: ! Use of \phantombox doesn't match its definition. \lowest #1->\setbox \phantombox = \vbox {\vphantom {$\displaystyle {#1}$}} l.8 \lowest{Q} Changing all uses of \phantombox to \phantomboxff fixes the problem, so maybe there's a name clash, but I couldn't find it in the context source code. -Sanjoy

What's new: * Fix for a compilation warning under Cygwin. * A complicated bugfix by Hartmut for a rounding problem in the VF loading that resulted in 'character width mismatch in font XY.vf ignored' messages at large load sizes * The embedded MPlib is now 1.202. * The post_page_number callback was accidentally run when shipping out xforms as well as during actual pages. * When a math accent char doesn't have a bot_accent placer, luatex now uses the top_accent placer, if present. * A crash caused by \Uroot .. {<list>}{...} is fixed * A portability fix for solaris 8 sparc using sun studio compiler, and one for glibc > 2.9.90 * luatex -ini now sets the \catcode of the BOM character to ignore (9) * Kpathsea is updated from TeXLive, giving four extra types of searchable files: 'font feature files','cid maps','mlbib', and 'mlbst'. * libpng is now 1.2.36 The archives can be downloaded from supelec as usual: http://foundry.supelec.fr/gf/project/luatex/ You could also check out the sources via anonymous svn: svn co http://foundry.supelec.fr/svn/luatex/tags/beta-0.40.2 Bugs and feature requests can be added to the issue tracker at http://tracker.luatex.org Have fun, Taco

Simply replying to this message is fine, but see the bottom of the message for a more formal way to report bugs and feature requests. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- What is new in MetaPost version 1.201: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bug fixes: * There was a bug where sometimes the outer contour of a glyph that was asked for via 'glyph X of' was missing from te output, depending on the path drawing order inside the Type1 font. * Handling of MPTEXPRE label prefix files was broken. * Font subsetting for 8-bit characters in Type1 fonts was broken. * The use of "%{outputtemplate}" inside "outputtemplate" now generates an error. * The first letter of the input file name was swallowed in the log file. * There is some rudimentary support for infinite recursion trapping now, to help prevent segfaults&crashes due to C call stack exhaustion. * An unlucky change in glibc made compilation fail on new GNU/Linux systems due to multiple incompatible definitions of 'getline()'. * There was a bug in the handling of quoted external commands for MPXCOMMAND | MPXMAINCMD | TEX. * The main input file's opening brace and filename were not shown in the log file output. * Non-colored picture objects (clipping and setbounds paths) are now ignored when the color part is asked from within "within", for backward compatibility reasons. * The trip and trap files are now part of the distribution and the mptrap files have been updated. * The standard web2c argv[0] mem file mimicri was broken: 1.200 was always looking for "mpost.mem" even when called under another name. * The manual pages for "mpost" and "dvitomp" have been updated, and the old "mp" manual page has been removed. * The first letter of any missing input file name was not shown in the terminal error message. * Output files are now once again written in the current directory even if an explicit source directory is given. Making a minimals update svn friendly

Hi folks, what I would like to do is updating a minimal context tree which is under svn version control ... the problem with the current setup is that mtxrun mtx-update.lua deletes all .svn subdirectories in the destination directories it touches for synchronization. This is bad because it completely spoils version control. However, by supplying the additional flag --filter="P .svn" to the rsync command one should be able to sync and still preserve .svn subdirectories. Hence I suggest the following patches to mtxrun mtx-update.lua in order to make the updating process svn friendly: diff bin/mtxrun bin.orig/mtxrun 9384c9384 < --~ ["flags"] = "-rpztlv --stats --filter='P .svn'", --- > --~ ["flags"] = "-rpztlv --stats", diff bin/mtx-update.lua bin.orig/mtx-update.lua 459c459 < states.set("rsync.flags.normal", environment.argument("flags"), "-rpztlv --stats --filter='P .svn'", true) -- ok --- > states.set("rsync.flags.normal", environment.argument("flags"), "-rpztlv --stats", true) -- ok This works on my machine (Mac OS X 10.5.7). piping to ConTeXt

Hello Hans, Asymptote developers wonder if there's a way to pipe to ConTeXt. I didn't start inspecting anything as I suspect that it's quite possible that nobody has ever tried that so far. The trick that John Bowman decided to use was to "\input null" (an empty tex file "null.tex"), but I already had problems because I (forgot that I) didn't have that file. Mojca

Hello Hans, I have file a-1.0.png. Using \extrernalfigure[a-1.0] (in mkii) results in "a-1" not found. \extrernalfigure[a-1.0.png] works OK. Is that behaviour expected/on purpose/hard to fix properly? Thanks, Mojca
