Taco had implemented two of my requests i) style=\textstyle or \displaystyle for matrix and ii) location=top|bottom for matrix. I think that these can be added to the core. However, I am not sure about the notation. I had requested for location=top|bottom (thinking in Latex terms) but I now think that the Context way to name it is low|high. Taco had also provided a bugfix for breaking multiline formula across pages. There are some minor glitches with it. Taco, do you have time to look into those? Aditya

Hi, We can't do what Hans asks right now, but it may be worthwhile to add a new if statement in some locations to support this (a similar issue is present for the output routine). If we have \newif\iftracingfonts Then maybe we can do \def\synchronizefont% {\iftracingfonts\else \tracingnone \fi ........ } or something similar is possible. The local logic in core-des.tex (\@@dostartdescription) is not taking into account trial typesetting runs, so the counter is typeset twice and incremented twice: first for the 'sampled' measuring, then for 'real'. I do not think anything is in the manual, it is one of those situations that grow over time: there are perceived limits in a specific solution (like \startbackgrounds) so Hans writes an alternate subsystem (like \starttextbackgrounds) that slowly becomes powerful enough to take over the original. The documentation is normally not updated until 100% of the old functionality is available in the new subsystem. A page with 'deprecated / outdated' commands on the wiki would certainly be helpful, I agree with that. (CC context dev list) Taco
