Luajittex 0.72.0 announcement

Hi, there is a new project on supelec: Luajittex. Briefly, it's like luatex with Lua replaced by LuaJIT. See http://foundry.supelec.fr/gf/project/luajittex/ for the source code. Please note that LuaJIT is based on lua 5.1, while luatex is now based on lua 5.2 --- this means that binaries modules must be kept separate. The tag 0.72.0 means that luajittex is in sinc with the tag 0.72.0 of luatex; I'm working to keep in sinc with the last tag. I've compiled the source for Linux 64bit (Ubuntu 12.10) Linux 32bit (Opensuse 12.1) and crosscompiled for Mingw32bit and they seem to work, but of course any feedback is appreciate. -- luigi

building LuaTeX on mingw/msys

Hi, I try to build LuaTeX on windows / mingw/msys, but I fail with pkg-config: checking dynamic linker characteristics... Win32 ld.exe checking how to hardcode library paths into programs... immediate checking whether gcc and cc understand -c and -o together... yes checking for inline... inline checking for i686-pc-mingw32-pkg-config... no checking for pkg-config... no configure: error: pkg-config >= required but not found (http://pkgconfig.freede sktop.org/) make[1]: *** [cairo-build/Makefile] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/z/luatexw/LuaTeX/build/libs/cairo' make: *** [../../libs/cairo/cairo/cairo.h] Error 2 C:\msysgit\mingw\bin\strip.exe: 'build/texk/web2c/luatex.exe': No such file ls: build/texk/web2c/luatex.exe: No such file or directory Can anyone help me? Do all versions of LuaTeX require pkg-config or cairo? I remember that I was able to use mingw/msys to compile LuaTeX, but that was quite some time ago. I wonder why it breaks now. Hi, this fails: \directlua{ lpeg.setmaxstack(12345) } \bye ~/TeX/luatex/test$ luatex test This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.70.2-2012062819 (TeX Live 2012) restricted \write18 enabled. (./test.tex ! LuaTeX error <\directlua >:1: attempt to call field 'setmaxstack' (a nil valu e) stack traceback: <\directlua >:1: in main chunk. l.3 } WTF??? :)) (seriously: it's in the lpeg documentation - but I guess the 0.70.2 has an old version of lpeg? Perhaps without setmaxstack)? Patrick
