Luajittex 0.72.0 announcement

Hi, there is a new project on supelec: Luajittex. Briefly, it's like luatex with Lua replaced by LuaJIT. See http://foundry.supelec.fr/gf/project/luajittex/ for the source code. Please note that LuaJIT is based on lua 5.1, while luatex is now based on lua 5.2 --- this means that binaries modules must be kept separate. The tag 0.72.0 means that luajittex is in sinc with the tag 0.72.0 of luatex; I'm working to keep in sinc with the last tag. I've compiled the source for Linux 64bit (Ubuntu 12.10) Linux 32bit (Opensuse 12.1) and crosscompiled for Mingw32bit and they seem to work, but of course any feedback is appreciate. -- luigi

Luatex 0.74.0 announcement

Hi, I have just uploaded the archives for a new luatex release, 0.74.0. Most noticeable changes: * Lua 5.2 There are no patches to the core Lua files; a future version of luatex will switch to loading the regular lua 5.2 dynamic library instead of depending on a statically compiled one. NOTE: This change can break some of your lua files, as the language has changed a little between versions 5.1 and 5.2 * A bleeding-edge version of luasocket is included, as there is no 5.2-compatible official release yet. * A new lua extension is the two-argument version of string.dump from Luajit: string.dump(function f, [boolean strip]) * Included mpost 1.780 * The implied existence of the following Lua libraries is now deprecated: debug, unicode.*, luazip, lfs, lpeg, zlib, gzip, md5, socket.*, profiler, epdf, fontloader, mplib, and pdfscanner. Future versions of luatex will load these modules on demand from dynamic libraries. \pdfsetmatrix confuses \pdfstartlink

Hi all, Here is my Christmas present to you: a bug report :-). When using \pdfsetmatrix in plain luatex, the y-axis of annotations seems to be inverted. Consider the following example, which should write the word "Link" and open the luatex homepage when a user clicks on it. -- \hbox {\pdfsave% \pdfsetmatrix{1 0 0 1}% \rlap{\pdfstartlink attr {/Border [0 0 1]} user {/Subtype /Link /A << /Type /Action /S /URI /URI (http://luatex.org/) >>} Link \pdfendlink}% \pdfrestore} \bye -- When commenting out \pdfsave, \pdfsetmatrix and \pdfrestore, everything is fine. With the (identity) transformation however, the text is still placed right, but the link annotation is on the bottom of the page. The example works fine with pdftex. I have tried luatex 0.70.2 shipped with texlive 2012 and the recently released luatex 0.74.0. Merry Christmas, Vianney

Nice Lua code library

Just a short note to share the link to a nice Lua library called Penlight. https://github.com/stevedonovan/Penlight Among the features it provides is a particularly nice table dumper --- in the pl.pretty module.
