FFI documentation is missing in luatex reference manual
Hi all, If I'm not mistaken, there is no mention of FFI in the luatex reference manual (at least in 1.16). It would be really nice to have some kind of minimal documentation about it. I know it would be better if I could write a patch myself but I'm not fluent enough in English nor technically competent, sorry. Many thanks for the hard work done with luatex. All the best -- Christophe

Indeed, it's a very specialized subject, one needs to manage C and Lua quite well -- and the code is not portable, it's still somewhat experimental (in lua) and it's quite easy to break luatex. It's definitively for dedicated applications. You can see https://luajit.org, the FFI sections. -- luigi

Thanks, Luigi. But FFI has been popularized quite a few thanks to Henri Menke (see https://tug.org/TUGboat/tb39-1/tb121menke-ffi.pdf or some FFI Q&A at tex.stackexchange.com). Maybe it is worth adding a few words about it (including the fact that it is still experimental and not portable)? Best regards -- Christophe
