But FFI has been popularized quite a few thanks to Henri Menke (see https://tug.org/TUGboat/tb39-1/tb121menke-ffi.pdf or some FFI Q&A at tex.stackexchange.com). Maybe it is worth adding a few words about it (including the fact that it is still experimental and not portable)?
