Those sources are not public, at least not now. Also, the document is partially updated (and moved to mkiv) and I need to pick up that thread.

Moreover I don't know how to make the command width=66\averagecharacterwidth work, if I see the sources I may be successful in trying to make it work.

The \averagecharacterwidth code sits in lang-frk.mkiv (mkii) but I must admit that it is an experiment that needs an update. (If you need it I can make a proper mkiv version.)
