Initial Comment:
during a thorough test on all large TrueType fonts listed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode_typefaces, 2 problems were discovered:

1. pdftex segfaults with fonts having very high number of glyphs.
2. font names were not handled properly in some border case, resulted in an invalid pdf.

Fix will be included in 1.40.8-rc2.
