[NTG-pdftex] Changing the banner is hardly possible

how are we going to deal with different libraries in pdftex?
pdfetex (using xpdf)
pdfpoppleretex (using poppler)
or will the poppler variant generate exactly the same output as the xpdf
variant (which is the cross platform lib)?
