Many thanks for your reply, Hans.

It seems that Literata has what they call an upright italic

But I’m afraid I cannot use weight (when invoked as 'wght'). Optical
sizes don’t seem to work.

The following code shows the issue I’m experiencing:

  \definefontfeature[myaxis][axis={wght=100, opsz=1.0}]
    [features={default, myaxis}, designsize=auto]
    {\switchtobodyfont[7pt]\tf Regular, \it Italic}
    {\switchtobodyfont[12pt]\tf Regular, \it Italic}
    {\switchtobodyfont[36pt]\tf Regular, \it Italic}
    {\switchtobodyfont[72pt]\tf Regular, \it Italic}

What am I missing here?

Many thanks for your help,
