still gives different results here for pdftex 1.11b and 1.20a: 1.20a gives only 0.5 in left/upper borders. Meanwhile I believe, that 1.20a is correct, and 1.11b and before were wrong, unnoticed. One has to set the \pdf... dimensions new behind \magnification.
0.13d did it the same as rc2; all other versions I tried (1.00b and 1.11a) give a different result. The question is: What is right? I presume that in TeX one would do ------------- \nopagenumbers \parindent=0pt \magnification=500 %\pdfhorigin=1truein %\pdfvorigin=1truein \hsize=210truemm \vsize=297truemm Hi \bigskip \hrule width 25.4truemm height 10truemm \bye ----------- With TeX (and pdfTeX when writing dvi) the origin is not moved; but this IMHO comes from the fact that the origin in dvi is always at (1in/1in). Which is not true for pdf output. It seems reasonable to assume the same for pdf as for dvi: The origin is not moved by \magnification, i.e. the behaviour when producing pdf and dvi is the same. This would mean that rc2 is buggy. Whatfor are \pdf*origin actually used? A grep on ctan/macros finds only occasions where it's set to 1truein.
