I vote for the removal of \indent since it is not needed in etex. We can patch plain.ini to contain its definition as a \protected macro. :-)

Good, what about * \batchmode, \nonstopmode, \scrollmode, and \errorstopmode? Making them macros using \interactionmode? * \topmark, \firstmark, \botmark, \mark? Using robust macros instead that uses an eTeX "marks" resource? :-)) Yours sincerely Heiko --
