Hello all,
I'm a project manager just involving in a big project(About 0.5 million users). I just using pdftex tool to transfer TEX file to PDF. But the performance is not accepted, especially in IBM AIX operating system.
In windows, the performance is about 1 second on file. But in AIX(4 CPU, 8G memory), it needs 20 seconds.
hm, no system file cache? anyhow, (1) use a small tex tree, throw everything out that you don't need (like fonts and documentation and sources) (2) run mktexlsr (3) maybe tune your texmf.cnf file and get rid of funny trees (expand $TEXMF and see what it contains)
Can anybody give me some advice about this problem. Now I face grate pressure from the customer. The customer need to process all 0.5 million files in one day.
(4) optimize your macros (5) use 10 windows machines instead of the one aix -) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl -----------------------------------------------------------------
