I note that in texlive 2013 the typescripts are found in two subdirectories, "base" and "third". Is there a reason for this subdivision or is it just an accident of history? -- John Culleton Wexford Press Free list of books for self-publishers: http://wexfordpress.net/shortlist.html PDF e-book: "Create Book Covers with Scribus" available at http://www.booklocker.com/books/4055.html
I think base are the basic TeX fonts, probably Computer Modern and Latin
Modern. Third is third-party.
