Updating via TLContrib
Hi list, I updated my TeXLive 2010 (MacTeX) installation using the TLContrib repository. Now I get the following error message when I use "context --version". MTXrun | forcing cache reload MTXrun | resolvers: skipping configuration file '/usr/local/texlive/2010/texmfcnf.lua' MTXrun | resolvers MTXrun | resolvers MTXrun | the resolver databases are not present or outdated MTXrun | resolvers: using suffix based filetype 'lua' MTXrun | resolvers: using suffix based filetype 'lua' MTXrun | resolvers: remembering file 'mtx-base.lua' MTXrun | resolvers: using suffix based filetype 'lua' MTXrun | unknown script 'base.lua' or 'mtx-base.lua' Any ideas? Daniel

Try mtxrun --generate
Best wishes, Taco
For the record: I'm getting the exact same error when trying to install a new minimals tree on my linux-ppc box: tas@tas-desktop:~/context % context --version MTXrun | forcing cache reload MTXrun | resolvers: warning: no lua configuration files found MTXrun | resolvers MTXrun | resolvers MTXrun | the resolver databases are not present or outdated MTXrun | resolvers: using suffix based filetype 'lua' MTXrun | resolvers: using suffix based filetype 'lua' MTXrun | resolvers: remembering file 'mtx-context.lua' MTXrun | resolvers: using suffix based filetype 'lua' MTXrun | unknown script 'context.lua' or 'mtx-context.lua' 10/12/10 7:52PM: tas@tas-desktop:~/context % mtxrun --generate MTXrun | resolvers: variable 'SELFAUTOLOC' set to '/mnt/shared/context/bin' MTXrun | resolvers: variable 'SELFAUTODIR' set to '/mnt/shared/context' MTXrun | resolvers: variable 'SELFAUTOPARENT' set to '/mnt/shared' MTXrun | resolvers: variable 'TEXMFCNF' set to '' MTXrun | resolvers: variable 'TEXMF' set to '' MTXrun | resolvers: variable 'TEXOS' set to 'context' MTXrun | resolvers MTXrun | resolvers: warning: no lua configuration files found MTXrun | resolvers MTXrun | resolvers 10/12/10 7:52PM: tas@tas-desktop:~/context % context --version MTXrun | forcing cache reload MTXrun | resolvers: warning: no lua configuration files found MTXrun | resolvers MTXrun | resolvers MTXrun | the resolver databases are not present or outdated MTXrun | resolvers: using suffix based filetype 'lua' MTXrun | resolvers: using suffix based filetype 'lua' MTXrun | resolvers: remembering file 'mtx-context.lua' MTXrun | resolvers: using suffix based filetype 'lua' MTXrun | unknown script 'context.lua' or 'mtx-context.lua' And of course, context doesn't work. So something is fishy here... All best Thomas

The executable bit was missing. (I think that you should have the credentials to fix it with "svn propset svn:executable on luatex" next time when I do a similar mistake.) Please try the fixed version if it still complains, but I think that is the source of all evil. There is at least another luatex that suffers from that, so it would be a miracle if it would work.
tas@tas-desktop:~/context % context --version
10/12/10 7:52PM: tas@tas-desktop:~/context % mtxrun --generate
What does which mtxrun return? Mojca

Damn, I alway forget that I have write access to the minimals. Thanks for reminding me; next time I'll try and fix it myself.

Yes, you're right of course, now it works wonderfully. Thanks! Thomas

You need to modify /usr/local/texlive/2010/texmfcnf.lua: return { content = { TEXMFCACHE = '~/Library/texlive/2010/texmf-var', TEXMFHOME = '~/Library/texmf', }, TEXMFCACHE = '~/Library/texlive/2010/texmf-var', } There is no way to update TeX Live to fix this file as this is a local addition of MacTeX. Dick promised to fix the online version of MacTeX, but DVDs have probably been printed already. Mojca
