Hi David, I had the same problem and now totaly switched from miktex to texlive. Texlive has context in a new version in it and up to date a online installer so that you only need about 2 MB for the first download and the rest will come by launching the installer. My advice would be to switch away from miktex to texlive it now has the same onlineupdatefunktion as miktex.
