Hi Idris, I’m afraid it may be a bug. The issue doesn’t show with stable version from 2014.01.03 00:40. It seems to be triggered when either after or before contain \blank in \setupnotation. Just in case it might help, Pablo -- http://www.ousia.tk

Thanks. But even rewriting the test file this way still doesn't allow me to control *inter*-note spacing: Yes, \setupwhitespace[none] in your example does *both* *intra*-note as well as as *inter*-note spacing but I want to configure inter-note spacing independently. I did find a workaround: \setupnotation [footnote] [before=, indenting={yes,big}, after={\vskip3ex}] % after={\blank}] works, but the \blank version doesn't.
