I am becoming bewildered by the multiple versions of Context now being discussed. For some years now I have used Context for complex layouts with tables and so on. The texlive version works OK for me. But now I see. mkii mkiv XeTeX Luatex etc. etc. So what is the target audience for each of these branches? And what branch is best for me to keep track of for creating non-fiction books in English? And what is it called when I need to find and download it? I suspect mkii is the branch intended for lowly folk like me but confirmation would be comforting. Currently I run (per texexec --version): /usr/local/texlive/2007/bin/i386-linux/texmfstart:1838: /usr/local/texlive/2007/../texmf-local/scripts/context/ruby/base/system.rb:16: TeXExec | version 6.2.0 - 1997-2006 - PRAGMA ADE/POD -- John Culleton Precision Typesetting Able Indexers and Typesetters http://wexfordpress.com __________________________________________________ D O T E A S Y - "Join the web hosting revolution!" http://www.doteasy.com

pdftex, xetex : mkii luatex : mkiv i think that in your case you can safely stick to what you use now (i.e. pdftex + mkii); english is not that demanding when it comes to encodings and related issues also, i like some folks to keep testing mkii + pdftex -) Hans ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl -----------------------------------------------------------------
