With the change to [strut=no,offset=overlay] the result looks a litlebit better. You have a space here between the first two left braces and also one between the two right braces, remove the outer braces and write \setlayerframed[…][…][…] {\externalfigure[…]} to get rid of the spaces. Wolfgang
